Mark Astley

Mister Killeriam, Terminal Checkmate

Death Legion

Don "Major Deej" Finger

5 Oct 2008

Derrek Garrett AKA Annihilator (Twin Brother separated at birth; neither of the twins know of each other)

Marcus 'Mark' Astley is an Australian Special Forces sniper that has since traded in his military boots for an assassin's scope.

For years, Mark patiently learned how to be the best sniper in the unit, taking pride in his targeting shills and ability to 'get the job done'...that is until a group of civilian interventionists from the Australian government did a psyche eval on all Australian Special Forces members.  Mark was diagnosed as an official sociopath, and as such was removed from active military duty and placed in an mental hospital where he was to be 'fixed' by way of a new interventionist emotional connections program, designed to lead him to be emoteful and communicative about his feelings and those of others.

Mark killed every one of the interventionists, plus his Commanding Officer, leaving their bodies strung up, gutted, flayed and skinned in the program's 'circle', hung by wire like dead deer being made into venison.  Nonetheless to say, Mark went off to find his own new future.

Over the next few years, Mark attempted to make a living as an independent assassin and/or mercenary, however, the competition was fierce and access to the equipment and supplies her needed were extremely regulated and hard to obtain...that is until he got a contract for a 'mark' from an powerful assassin's guild called Death Legion.  It was to take out a Tribunal Judge while the judge was on the bench.  Not only did Mark complete the task, he ensured there was video coverage, a fall guy for the hit and an association to another judge who left (faked) letters about how he wanted that judge dead.  It was a fantastic assassination. He did so well, he was tasked with several other assassinations worldwide and was soon employed as a regular Death Legion assassin

After a few more years in that role, Mark was tasked with a nearly impossible multi-assassination plot involving three politicians, two lawyers and a C-list superhero. Once again, he pulled off a magnificent assassination of all of them within seconds of each other, with no one the wiser of who killed them, other than the standard black rose left at the site of each target, identifying Death Legion's involvement.

Deathmaster, the leader of Death Legion, was impressed enough to offer Mark a new role, that of a master assassin amidst the rank of assassins; one named "Terminal Ballistic".  Mark took the job and became the first official master assassin in Death Legion's ranks that wasn't the guild's leader.

Today, Terminal Ballistic continues with his usual flair and panache in performing his assassinations for Death Legion.  As a Master Assassin, Terminal Ballistic is allowed to create and use his own support team to carry out the (usually difficult) assignments. He is considered one of the best in the business and if he continues down his current path, he may well be the next leader of Death Legion.

Maybe one day, Mark will look into his family's history and try to find others he's related to...
