History

History

Hermann Rothenstein emerged in Germany and Western Europe as the charismatic voice of a growing extremist nationalist movement. Intelligent, driven, and gifted at manipulating crowds, he transformed scattered discontent into an organized militant body he called the New Reich Army. While he could attract followers with speeches and symbolism, the force itself was initially crude and unstable, made up largely of criminals, thugs, and poorly trained radicals.

That changed when Rothenstein began receiving vast financial support and shipments of advanced weaponry from an anonymous benefactor later linked to the schemes surrounding Scorpius. With money, equipment, and improved logistics, Volksjäger rebuilt his army into a far more dangerous force and launched an audacious assault on Nuremberg, Germany, intending to seize and hold the city as both a military and political statement.

At first, the occupation appeared shockingly successful. His militants spread across more than one hundred square miles in and around the city. German police, SWAT teams, anti-terror units, federal military forces, and the national superhero team known as the Teutonic League mobilized for a sustained counteroffensive. As expected, the New Reich Army began to collapse under the pressure. Poor discipline, weak training, and limited battlefield cohesion reduced Rothenstein’s control to only a few downtown blocks.

Then history changed.

At the very moment Volksjäger’s movement seemed finished, Baron Berlin and the revived Axis Force arrived from cryogenic imprisonment, backed by a fresh, highly trained, heavily armed army. Their intervention shattered the expected liberation effort and reversed the battle completely. Under Baron Berlin’s command, the insurgency was transformed into conquest, and the original occupation zone was secured as the new nation-state of Reichsland.

Recognizing the Baron’s strategic brilliance and symbolic power, Rothenstein willingly surrendered leadership of what remained of the New Reich Army and publicly proclaimed Baron Berlin the new Kaiser of Reichsland. Rather than fade into irrelevance, Volksjäger was elevated. His loyalty, planning ability, and influence over the rank-and-file made him too useful to discard.

Today, Volksjäger serves as a core member of modern Axis Force. He is not a superhuman, but he is still one of Reichsland’s most dangerous operatives: a master planner, battlefield coordinator, and ideological weapon. To Reichsland loyalists, he is a heroic revolutionary. To the rest of the world, he is one of the chief architects of a modern authoritarian threat.
