CHARACTER SUMMARY

Tharos Kharvion is a powerful Minotaur warrior of the ancient Ironhorn Clan and the Order of the Zodiac's formidable heavy-assault specialist. Born in the mountains of Crete, he possesses extraordinary strength, exceptional endurance, and devastating natural horns, complemented by ancestral armor and a massive clan-forged sword.

Haunted by the loss of his wife and estranged from his daughter, Tharos believes that strength must be used decisively to prevent catastrophe. His uncompromising convictions led him away from his people and into the service of Aries, whose willingness to confront a troubled world earned his loyalty.

Proud, stubborn, honorable, and nearly impossible to stop, Taurus remains convinced that the greatest danger is allowing evil to advance unchallenged—even as his commitment to the Zodiac threatens the family and traditions he once swore to protect.

History

The Ironhorn Clan

Tharos Kharvion was born approximately 140 years ago among the Ironhorn Clan, an ancient Minotaur lineage inhabiting the mountainous interior of Crete, Greece.

The Ironhorns are part of the wider mystical Minotaur civilization but maintain traditions and philosophical beliefs distinct from those of the better-known Cretan labyrinth guardians.

While other Minotaur communities emphasized preservation, isolation, and the defense of sacred territories, the Ironhorn Clan maintained that strength carried a responsibility to confront threats before they reached its homeland.

Their ancestral principle, "The mountain does not bow. The horn does not yield," reflected a culture built upon physical strength, honor, endurance, loyalty, and the fulfillment of sworn obligations.

Tharos's father, Damaros Kharvion, was a respected Ironhorn war-captain whose example helped shape his son's understanding of duty and leadership. His mother, Erytha, served as a keeper of clan history and ancestral traditions.

From childhood, Tharos was taught that a warrior's worth was determined not by titles or possessions, but by courage, discipline, and the willingness to endure hardship in defense of others.

Training and Development

Tharos demonstrated considerable physical strength and exceptional endurance even among his fellow Minotaurs.

Although he lacked the intellectual sophistication of the clan's scholars and historians, he possessed practical awareness, determination, and an extraordinary capacity to withstand punishment.

His training emphasized traditional swordsmanship, wrestling, horn-based combat, and survival in the harsh mountainous terrain surrounding his homeland.

He developed a methodical fighting style based upon strength, positioning, and relentless forward pressure rather than speed or elaborate techniques.

Tharos eventually became a respected warrior within the Ironhorn Clan, earning the responsibility of war-captain.

He also inherited a profound respect for the clan's ancestral weapons and armor, regarding them as expressions of his people's history rather than ordinary possessions.

The Second World War

During World War II, the violence spreading across Crete had devastating consequences for the island's Minotaur communities.

Tharos witnessed the destruction and suffering caused by modern warfare and learned of the terrible losses sustained by the labyrinth guardians and other surviving Minotaurs.

The catastrophe profoundly influenced his worldview.

Where many survivors concluded that isolation and concealment offered the greatest protection, Tharos believed that remaining removed from the affairs of the outside world had left his people vulnerable.

He argued that the Minotaurs could not indefinitely depend upon distance, secrecy, and ancient defenses to protect them from increasingly powerful external threats.

Although his beliefs were not universally accepted, they gradually gained support among members of the Ironhorn Clan who feared another catastrophe.

Tharos came to believe that dangerous enemies needed to be confronted before they became powerful enough to threaten his homeland.

Family, Loss, and Division

Tharos eventually married Melantha Kharvion, a fellow member of the Ironhorn Clan.

Their marriage provided stability and companionship despite Tharos's increasingly demanding responsibilities as a warrior and clan leader.

Together, they had a daughter, Kyra.

Tharos was deeply devoted to his family. His sense of loyalty, already central to his personality, became even more pronounced through his responsibilities as a husband and father.

Decades after World War II, an armed confrontation involving outsiders threatened Ironhorn territory.

During the conflict, Melantha was killed.

Her death devastated Tharos and strengthened his conviction that hesitation and excessive restraint could have fatal consequences.

He blamed the clan's reluctance to confront developing threats for allowing the danger to reach their homeland.

As his frustration grew, Tharos began openly challenging elders who favored negotiation, withdrawal, and the preservation of traditional isolation.

Although his actions were motivated by a desire to protect his people, his increasingly confrontational approach created serious divisions within the clan.

His daughter Kyra, who had grown into a capable defender herself, opposed her father's increasingly uncompromising philosophy.

She believed his anger and grief were beginning to distort the values he had once taught her.

Departure from the Ironhorn Clan

Tharos eventually relinquished his position as war-captain and voluntarily departed the Ironhorn stronghold.

He was not formally exiled or declared an enemy of his people.

Instead, he left because he no longer believed he could fulfill his duty while remaining bound by the clan leadership's restrictions.

His departure was painful, particularly because Kyra refused to accompany him.

Tharos nevertheless maintained that he was acting in the long-term interests of his family and the wider Minotaur civilization.

He traveled beyond Crete, learning more about the modern world and witnessing the political, economic, and military conflicts that shaped human civilization.

His experiences reinforced his belief that powerful institutions often failed to act until problems had already become catastrophic.

Although unfamiliar with many aspects of modern society, Tharos understood the consequences of weakness, indecision, and the misuse of authority.

Recruitment into the Order of the Zodiac

Tharos eventually encountered representatives of the Order of the Zodiac.

The organization's philosophy immediately appealed to his belief that civilization's failures could not always be corrected through diplomacy, patience, or conventional political institutions.

He was particularly impressed by Aries, Cassandra Elise Whitmore, whose determination, leadership, and willingness to confront dangerous opposition personally earned his respect.

Aries recognized Taurus's tremendous physical capabilities, exceptional endurance, and unwavering loyalty.

She also understood that his personal philosophy made him a natural candidate for an organization committed to decisive intervention.

Tharos joined the Order and adopted the codename Taurus, representing both his Minotaur heritage and his unyielding determination. Within the organization, he became one of its primary frontline combatants and enforcement specialists. Unlike members motivated by wealth, personal ambition, or political influence, Taurus saw the Order as an instrument through which he could act against forces that endangered civilization.

His loyalty to Aries was genuine, although not unconditional. Tharos maintained his belief that loyalty did not require unquestioning obedience to dishonorable orders. He remained willing to challenge decisions that needlessly endangered innocent lives or betrayed sworn commitments.

The Twelve-City Correction

During the Order's planning for the Twelve-City Correction, Taurus received an operational assignment in New York City. His exceptional endurance, substantial physical strength, and formidable close-combat capabilities made him suitable for operations involving fortified positions, powerful opponents, and dangerous environments.

Where other Zodiac members relied upon sophisticated technology, psychological manipulation, or unusual energy abilities, Taurus represented the organization's capacity to confront resistance through overwhelming physical force. He regarded his assignment as an opportunity to demonstrate that direct action could accomplish what endless negotiation and political debate could not.

Current Activities — 2026

By 2026, Taurus remains an active member of the Order of the Zodiac and one of its most dangerous frontline fighters. His immense resilience, powerful horns, ancestral sword, and protective armor make him a formidable adversary in close combat. Despite his fearsome appearance, Taurus is not a mindless or indiscriminately violent creature.

He is deliberate, proud, stubborn, and fiercely protective of those who earn his loyalty. He prefers direct confrontation to elaborate deception and often grows impatient with plans that require prolonged manipulation or unnecessary secrecy. His respect for Aries remains strong, although he occasionally questions the methods employed by other members of the Order.

Tharos continues to regard himself as a defender of his people, even as his actions increasingly place him in opposition to established governments and heroic organizations. His daughter Kyra remains deeply troubled by his allegiance to the Zodiac, believing that his commitment to correcting the world has led him away from the honor he once represented.

For Taurus, the greatest conflict may ultimately be between his loyalty to the Order and the responsibility he still feels toward his family and the Ironhorn Clan. He remains convinced that strength must be used decisively, even when doing so demands considerable sacrifice.

Powers

Taurus is a naturally powerful Minotaur whose mystical species physiology grants him exceptional physical strength, tremendous endurance, and formidable natural weapons.

His abilities are inherent to his species rather than the result of scientific experimentation, mutation, or technological enhancement.

Although his Minotaur ancestry is mystical, Taurus is not established as a trained spellcaster. His combat capabilities rely primarily upon natural physical attributes, ancestral equipment, and traditional warrior training.

Superhuman Strength

Rank: Remarkable (30)

Taurus possesses substantial physical strength, enabling him to deliver powerful blows, grapple formidable opponents, and wield heavy weapons effectively.

His strength is a natural characteristic of his Minotaur physiology.

Although powerful, he is not among the strongest beings in the MDU, and opponents possessing substantially greater physical strength may overpower him.

Exceptional Endurance

Rank: Amazing (50)

Taurus possesses extraordinary physical endurance, allowing him to sustain prolonged combat activity and endure physical punishment that would incapacitate ordinary humans.

His endurance supports his fighting style, which relies upon resilience, sustained pressure, and the ability to continue advancing despite injury or exhaustion.

Natural Horns

Material Strength: Amazing (50)

Goring Damage: Incredible (40)

Taurus possesses exceptionally strong natural horns capable of functioning as devastating close-combat weapons.

His horns are part of his natural anatomy, not attachments to his helmet or armor.

Their tremendous material strength allows Taurus to deliver powerful goring attacks against opponents and physical obstacles.

The effectiveness of these attacks depends upon his ability to make contact with a target, meaning enemies capable of maintaining distance or exploiting his relatively poor agility can reduce their effectiveness.

Minotaur Physiology

Taurus possesses the natural physical characteristics of his mystical Minotaur species, including a bull-like head, powerful humanoid body, durable horns, and exceptional physical resilience.

His large frame and heavy musculature contribute to his formidable close-combat presence.

However, his exceptional strength and endurance are balanced by comparatively limited agility.

Agility Limitations

Agility: Poor (4)

Despite his imposing physical capabilities, Taurus is not a particularly agile combatant.

He relies upon strength, positioning, determination, and trained combat techniques rather than rapid evasive movement.

Highly mobile opponents may be able to exploit this limitation, particularly in open environments where they can avoid direct engagement.

Magical Heritage

Taurus belongs to an ancient mystical species whose existence is connected to the magical history of Crete.

This heritage distinguishes him from ordinary humans and provides the foundation for his unusual physiology.

However, Taurus has no confirmed independent spellcasting powers, magical energy projection, teleportation, or other advanced mystical abilities.

Such capabilities should not be assumed solely because of his species.

Armor-Based Protection

Taurus's ancestral armor provides the following protection:

  • Physical Attacks: Excellent (20)

  • Energy Attacks: Excellent (20)

  • Temperature Extremes: Excellent (20)

  • Toxins: Excellent (20)

  • Radiation: Remarkable (30)

These are protective properties of his equipment rather than additional natural biological abilities.

Weaknesses and Limitations

Taurus's principal weakness is his limited agility.

He can also be stubborn, resistant to changing tactics, and reluctant to retreat even when withdrawal would be strategically sensible.

His strong personal code of honor may be exploited by opponents who understand his unwillingness to abandon sworn companions or tolerate dishonorable behavior.

His natural durability does not make him invulnerable, and his ancestral armor provides finite protection against sufficiently powerful attacks.

Equipment

Taurus primarily relies upon traditional Ironhorn Clan armor and weaponry, preserving the martial customs of his Minotaur ancestors.

Unlike several other members of the Order of the Zodiac, Taurus does not depend upon sophisticated modern computers, energy weapons, or complex technological systems.

His equipment reflects his cultural heritage, personal fighting style, and belief that a warrior's strength should remain rooted in discipline, physical ability, and ancestral tradition.

Ironhorn Ancestral Armor

Origin: Ironhorn Clan, Crete, Greece

Type: Heavy protective combat armor.

Taurus wears traditional armor designed for the large frame, powerful musculature, and distinctive anatomy of a Minotaur warrior.

The armor has been adapted through generations of clan craftsmanship to support durability, freedom of movement, and protection during close combat.

Its original FASERIP protective specifications are:

  • Physical Protection: Excellent (20)

  • Energy Protection: Excellent (20)

  • Temperature Protection: Excellent (20)

  • Toxin Protection: Excellent (20)

  • Radiation Protection: Remarkable (30)

The armor's protective properties may incorporate ancient Ironhorn enchantments or magically strengthened materials, although no additional magical functions have been established.

Its appearance reflects the Ironhorn Clan's martial heritage and is intended to be visually distinct from Gold Minotaur's equipment.

Ironhorn Ancestral Sword

Origin: Ironhorn Clan

Weapon Type: Heavy melee sword

Material Strength: Fantastic (original RPG notation)

Attack Damage: Incredible (40)

Taurus carries a powerful ancestral sword created for the exceptional strength and physical proportions of a Minotaur warrior.

The weapon can inflict Incredible-rank damage through cutting or heavy pommel strikes.

Its extraordinary material strength reflects the advanced traditional craftsmanship of the Ironhorn Clan and potentially the use of ancient mystical metallurgy.

The original RPG document identifies the material strength as "Fantastic." This designation is preserved pending clarification of the intended rank.

The sword is a deeply personal symbol of Taurus's heritage, warrior status, and continued loyalty to his people.

Natural Horns

Although not manufactured equipment, Taurus's horns are an essential part of his combat capabilities.

They possess Amazing material strength and can inflict Incredible goring damage.

Their natural origin distinguishes them from decorative horned helmets or artificial weapons.

XIII LTD Equipment Assessment

Taurus has no established contractual relationship with XIII LTD.

His current armor and sword are of Ironhorn Clan origin, and no Mark II or Mark III technological redesign has been approved.

A future equipment upgrade remains possible if justified by character development, but his ancestral weapons and armor are currently the controlling equipment baseline.

Additional Equipment

No additional specialized technological equipment, magical artifacts, or ranged weapons are documented in Taurus's original FASERIP record.

He may use ordinary tools, supplies, or transportation provided by the Order of the Zodiac when necessary, but no additional personal equipment is currently established.

  • Wrestling is a respected aspect of Ironhorn warrior training and forms an important part of Taurus's fighting style.

Environmental Awareness

  • Environmental Awareness: +1 Intuition

  • Taurus possesses practical knowledge of natural environments, terrain conditions, and the hazards associated with wilderness survival.

  • He understands clan customs, warrior responsibilities, the importance of sworn obligations, and the maintenance of ancestral weapons and equipment.

  • His practical experience allows him to function effectively in physically demanding situations.

  • No separate numerical FASERIP modifier has been established for this background knowledge.

Combat Discipline and Persistence

  • Taurus relies upon determination, resilience, and sustained physical pressure in combat.

  • He is capable of maintaining his position against formidable opposition and is reluctant to abandon a confrontation once committed.

  • This persistence is both a strength and a weakness. His unwillingness to retreat can be exploited by opponents who recognize his stubbornness.

  •

Clan Leadership Experience

  • As a former Ironhorn war-captain, Taurus possesses experience directing warriors, coordinating defensive actions, and maintaining order within a traditional martial community.

  • His leadership style emphasizes personal example, courage, loyalty, and physical presence rather than complex strategic planning.

  • Although experienced in command, Taurus does not possess the sophisticated financial, political, or strategic expertise associated with Aries.

No independent leadership talent modifier was specified in his original RPG record.
