In New York City's Manhattan borough, there are a handful of street gangs operate within.  A street gang is a gang made up of children, teenagers and/or young adults not to exceed 50 gang members; more than 50 members constitutes its own entry under "Gangs".

The following is a list of known street gangs in the Manhattan borough of New York City, New York in the MDU (and are not reflective, representative, nor associative of any existing or defunct gangs in the real world in any respective manner):

Battery Zombies

Leader: Silas “Deadwake” Crowley

​

Number of Members: 50 active members

​

Location/Territory: Battery Park, South Ferry, lower Manhattan waterfront, ferry approaches, harbor service roads, seawalls, and abandoned maintenance tunnels near the Financial District.

​

Allies: Sewerz, occasional Greenbills contacts, select dockside smugglers

​

Enemies: Red Riders, Scarlet S Gang, Staten Island crews encroaching through ferry routes

​

Weapons of Choice: Heavy chains, dock hooks, wrenches, crowbars, bolt cutters, flare guns, smoke flares, waterproof radios

​

Brief Description:
The Battery Zombies are a grim waterfront gang whose members haunt lower Manhattan’s harbor edges, ferry terminals, and storm-worn service routes. Known for pale faces, rain-soaked coats, and silent movements through fog and tunnel access points, they are not supernatural, but they have worked hard to make people wonder. Their rackets center on ferry-terminal theft, black-market salvage, harbor smuggling assistance, and late-night waterfront extortion.

Greenbills

Leader: Leonard “Ledger” Vale

Number of Members: 35

Location/Territory: Financial District side streets, Wall Street edges, pawn shops, check-cashing storefronts, underground card rooms, after-hours bars, and office-tower delivery corridors.

​

Allies: Greenwich G Crew, select corrupt accountants and bookies, occasional Battery Zombies contacts

​

Enemies: Scarlet S Gang, Tire Iron Taggers, independent loan sharks

​

Weapons of Choice: Brass knuckles, weighted canes, collapsible batons, utility knives, burner phones, forged ID kits, coded ledgers

​

Brief Description:
The Greenbills are Manhattan’s street-level money predators, feeding off the cash flow surrounding the Financial District. They specialize in loan sharking, illegal gambling, forged documents, check fraud, debt collection, and small-scale laundering. Smooth, greedy, and image-conscious, the Greenbills prefer leverage and humiliation before open violence, but anyone who owes them money learns quickly that their polished appearance is only a mask.

Greenwich G Crew

Leader: Marco “Saint G” Bellafiore

Location/Territory: Greenwich Village, Washington Square edges, West 4th Street, underground clubs, music venues, cafés, back-room bars, brownstone alleys, and nightlife-heavy side streets.

​

Allies: Greenbills, SoHo Sandmen, select nightlife promoters and underground club operators

​

Enemies: Scarlet S Gang, Red Riders, outside gangs entering Village club territory

​

Weapons of Choice: Pool cues, chain belts, compact batons, small knives, spray paint, cameras, burner phones, lock picks

​

Brief Description:
The Greenwich G Crew is a militant Village street crew rooted in queer nightlife, outcast circles, exploited service workers, street hustlers, and angry club-scene survivors. They present themselves as defenders of vulnerable nightlife spaces, but their protection has become a racket built on intimidation, public shaming, blackmail, staged outrage, and territorial violence. They are feared because they can damage a target in the street or destroy them socially.

Leader: Anya “Coldcut” Voseil

Location/Territory: Meatpacking District edges, Chelsea loading docks, cold-storage warehouses, restaurant supply corridors, basement kitchens, night-delivery streets, and back entrances.

Allies: Tire Iron Taggers, select restaurant suppliers, warehouse thieves

Enemies: Red Riders, Greenbills debt collectors, independent kitchen crews

​

Weapons of Choice: Ice picks, meat hooks, freezer chains, steel rods, utility knives, dry ice containers, industrial flashlights

Brief Description:
The Ice Piks are a cold, precise gang tied to Manhattan’s freezer warehouses, restaurant supply routes, late-night deliveries, and back-door food-service economy. They specialize in supply-chain theft, restaurant shakedowns, cold-storage smuggling, intimidation-for-hire, and protection rackets around illegal shipments. Their reputation is quiet and surgical; when the Ice Piks visit, they rarely need to raise their voices.

Red Riders

Leader: Tasha “Redline” Moreno

​

Location/Territory: Midtown delivery routes, East Side avenues, West Side highway edges, bridge approaches, bike lanes, courier corridors, and late-night food/package zones.

​

Allies: Tire Iron Taggers, some independent courier crews, select street racers

​

Enemies: Battery Zombies, Ice Piks, Uberknights

​

Weapons of Choice: Bike chains, tire irons, collapsible batons, heavy gloves, smoke flares, GPS trackers, modified scooters, e-bikes, motorcycles

Brief Description:
The Red Riders are a fast-moving courier, bike, scooter, and motorcycle gang that controls movement across Manhattan’s streets. They specialize in fast contraband delivery, message running, vehicle theft, delivery-app hijacking, street racing, and pursuit evasion. Cocky, loud, and hard to catch, the Red Riders know Manhattan traffic patterns better than almost anyone.

Scarlet S Gang

Leader: Victor “Old Saint” Serrano

Location/Territory: Lower East Side, old tenement blocks, night markets, back-room social clubs, rooftop routes, and border zones near Chinatown and Little Italy.

Brief Description:
The Scarlet S Gang is an old-school Manhattan gang built on legacy, rank, reputation, and neighborhood pride. Their “S” has meant many things over the years: Scarlet, Street, South, Snake, Syndicate, Saint. They operate protection rackets, numbers games, rooftop smuggling routes, street-market intimidation, and territorial enforcement. Proud and volatile, they treat disrespect as seriously as unpaid debt.

Sewerz

Leader: Milton “Muck” Graves

Location/Territory: Utility tunnels, sewer access points, abandoned subway platforms, steam tunnels, flooded basements, construction pits, and service corridors beneath older Manhattan buildings.

​

Allies: Battery Zombies, select construction thieves, underground smugglers

Enemies: Scarlet S Gang, Uberknights, city maintenance crews, police tunnel units

​

Weapons of Choice: Pipe wrenches, lead pipes, crowbars, bolt cutters, flashlights, sewer hooks, gas masks, glow sticks

Brief Description:
The Sewerz are a secretive underground gang operating beneath Manhattan through sewer lines, utility tunnels, abandoned platforms, and forgotten service corridors. Their crimes include underground smuggling, illegal access-for-hire, sabotage, utility theft, hiding contraband, and building infiltration from below. They are ugly, practical, and feared because they can come up from under the street.

SoHo Sandmen

Leader: Elias “Nightglass” Reeve

Location/Territory: SoHo gallery streets, loft buildings, boutique districts, art-storage spaces, cobblestone side streets, rooftops, after-hours parties, and late-night creative spaces.

​

Allies: Greenwich G Crew, select gallery thieves, underground party operators

Enemies: The original SoHo Sandman, Tire Iron Taggers, rival art thieves, vigilante groups

​

Weapons of Choice: Batons, knives, weighted scarves, aerosol cans, blue LED goggles, surveillance cameras, smoke effects, anonymous warning cards

​

Brief Description:
The SoHo Sandmen are the criminal remnants of the former vigilante known as the SoHo Sandman. After the original Sandman abandoned terror and killing as failed methods, the gang rejected him and claimed he had become unfit to carry the name. Now they use his legend as a fear weapon, staging disappearances, spreading nightmare rumors, intimidating galleries and nightlife spaces, and making enemies believe the Sandmen are waiting just outside the light.

Tire Iron Taggers

Leader: Rocco “Rattlejack” DeVito

Location/Territory: Parking garages, auto shops, service roads, bridge and tunnel approaches, construction side streets, graffiti-heavy walls, delivery zones, and industrial pockets.

Allies: Red Riders, Ice Piks, chop-shop operators, vehicle-part fences

Enemies: SoHo Sandmen, Greenbills, Uberknights, private security contractors

​

Weapons of Choice: Tire irons, lug wrenches, spray cans, bolt cutters, car jacks, slim jims, tow chains, portable scanners

Brief Description:
The Tire Iron Taggers are a rough graffiti, auto-theft, and chop-shop crew known for paint-splattered clothes, mechanic gear, and tool-heavy intimidation. They operate around parking garages, service streets, delivery zones, and vehicle-part black markets. Loud, destructive, and hands-on, they leave marks everywhere: walls, cars, garages, doors, and reputations.

Weapons of Choice: Batons, tactical flashlights, seatbelt cutters, tire spikes, modified helmets, dashcams, GPS spoofers, encrypted driver-network phones

Brief Description:
The Uberknights are a modern Manhattan transport gang blending rideshare culture, black-car networks, delivery routes, and self-styled medieval pageantry. They call themselves “knights of the avenue,” treating cars, scooters, bikes, and black SUVs like modern mounts. They specialize in illegal transport, package interception, high-value passenger tracking, pickup-zone control, tourist theft, and rapid extraction services for criminals.
