In Boston, Massachusetts in the MDU, there are a handful of townships which street gangs operate from. A street gang is a gang made up of children, teenagers and/or young adults not to exceed 50 gang members; more than 50 members constitutes its own entry under "Gangs".

The following is a list of known street gangs in Boston, MA in the MDU (and are not reflective, representative, nor associative of any existing or defunct gangs in the real world in any respective manner)

BLUESKINS

Gang Leader: Calvin “Blue Cal” Merrick

Location/Territory: Dorchester, Mattapan, and scattered sections of Roxbury

Gang Allies: Matchheads, Foster Boys, and select neighborhood drug runners

Gang Enemies: Red Bands, Southie Sluggers, and the Boston Police Gang Unit

Weapons of Choice: Pistols, knives, sawed-off shotguns, and brass knuckles

Gang Description:
The Blueskins are a violent street-narcotics gang recognized by their blue jackets, bandanas, gloves, and blue-toned tattoos or skin markings. Operating primarily through neighborhood drug corners and intimidation rackets, the gang maintains control by making examples of anyone who resists its demands. Blue Cal prefers calculated threats and short, decisive acts of violence over prolonged street wars, although the Blueskins will aggressively defend their territory against rival gangs.

BRANDYWINES

Gang Leader: Evelyn “Brandy” Kelleher

Gang Description:
The Brandywines are an upscale black-market liquor and nightlife crew specializing in hijacked alcohol shipments, club extortion, and illegal after-hours establishments. Their members dress more sharply than most Boston street gangs and present themselves as a sophisticated criminal social circle. Behind the polished appearance, however, the Brandywines are ruthless toward competitors, informants, and business owners who refuse to cooperate.

BRICKMASTERS

Gang Description:
The Brickmasters are a blue-collar extortion gang rooted in Boston’s construction and demolition industries. They steal building materials, intimidate subcontractors, manipulate jobsite access, and use unfinished structures to conceal stolen goods and illegal operations. Their members favor work jackets, hard hats, heavy boots, and practical tools that can quickly become weapons.

DOWNTOWN Ds

Gang Leader: Darren “Double-D” Dorsey

Location/Territory: Downtown Crossing, the Financial District, the Theater District, and nearby transit corridors

Gang Allies: T-Riders, Mohawk Marauders, and selected street scammers

Gang Description:
The Downtown Ds are a fast-moving robbery and confidence-scam crew that thrives in Boston’s busiest commercial districts. They specialize in coordinated muggings, tourist thefts, card scams, flash robberies, and rapid escapes through crowded streets and transit stations. The gang relies on speed, distraction, and familiarity with downtown foot traffic rather than maintaining a heavily fortified territory.

EMERALD HILL GANG

Gang Leader: Seamus “Saint” Donnelly

Location/Territory: Jamaica Plain, Mission Hill, and several historically Irish neighborhood blocks

Gang Allies: Southie Sluggers, Foster Boys, and neighborhood fixers

Gang Description:
The Emerald Hill Gang is an Irish-descended neighborhood crew with deep family and community connections. Its members portray themselves as local protectors, but their protection comes through extortion, loan-sharking, intimidation, and selective violence. Saint Donnelly maintains the gang’s traditionalist identity and expects members to defend the neighborhood, respect established families, and keep outside gangs from gaining influence.

FOSTER BOYS

Gang Description:
The Foster Boys were formed primarily by young men who passed through foster homes, group homes, and unstable family placements. Members regard the gang as a replacement family and demonstrate intense loyalty toward one another. Their crimes include burglary, vehicle theft, courier work, and low-level enforcement for larger gangs, although some members remain more interested in survival and belonging than organized criminal advancement.

GRUNK’S GANSTAS

Gang Leader: Gregory “Grunk” Nuzzo

Location/Territory: Allston warehouse rows, Brighton backstreets, junkyards, and vehicle-storage lots

Gang Allies: Brickmasters, Matchheads, and chop-shop mechanics

Gang Description:
Grunk’s Ganstas are a chaotic smash-and-grab crew built around the loud personality of their leader, Gregory “Grunk” Nuzzo. They specialize in warehouse break-ins, stolen auto parts, stripped vehicles, and crude intimidation. Their operation often appears disorganized, but Grunk’s knowledge of junkyards, garages, fences, and black-market mechanics has made the gang more durable than its unruly reputation suggests.

HARBOR SHARKS

Gang Description:
The Harbor Sharks are a maritime theft and smuggling gang tied closely to Boston’s waterfront economy. Their members include fishermen, launch operators, dock thieves, cargo handlers, and experienced boat crews. They move contraband, raid poorly protected shipments, escort illegal cargo through harbor routes, and control selected waterfront access points through fear and local knowledge.

IRONHELMS

Gang Leader: Lukas “Helm” Richter

Location/Territory: South Boston industrial garages, machine shops, and abandoned manufacturing corridors

Gang Allies: Brickmasters, Southie Sluggers, and black-market armorers

Gang Description:
The Ironhelms are heavily equipped enforcers recognized by their helmets, protective gear, reinforced clothing, and intimidating industrial appearance. They operate as muscle-for-hire, debt collectors, escorts, and security contractors for other criminal organizations. Helm Richter maintains strict discipline within the gang, making the Ironhelms smaller than many rival crews but considerably more organized in direct confrontations.

MALCHICAS

Gang Leader: Daniela “Mala D” Cruz

Location/Territory: East Boston, Chelsea spillover routes, and selected nightlife districts

Gang Description:
The Malchicas are a predominantly female Latina street gang known for territorial pride, disciplined retaliation, and a powerful nightlife presence. They control selected courier routes, protection rackets, stolen-goods exchanges, and small-arms movement through East Boston. Mala D demands loyalty, personal courage, and immediate responses to threats, giving the gang a reputation for striking quickly when challenged.

MATCHHEADS

Gang Leader: Colin “Spark” Vape

Location/Territory: Industrial fringes, abandoned buildings, and concealed drug-production sites throughout Boston

Gang Allies: Blueskins, Grunk’s Ganstas, and low-tier narcotics producers

Gang Enemies: Harbor Sharks, Boston fire marshals, and arson investigators

Weapons of Choice: Molotov cocktails, pistols, homemade incendiaries, and knives

Gang Description:
The Matchheads are arsonists, fire-setters, and criminal enforcers whose signature method is controlled destruction by fire. They burn evidence, destroy rival storage locations, intimidate property owners, and create diversions for allied gangs. Although useful to criminal partners, the Matchheads are considered dangerously unpredictable because of their willingness to escalate minor disputes into destructive arson attacks.

MOHAWK MARAUDERS

Gang Leader: Trevor “Raze” Malloy

Location/Territory: Punk-club districts, rail-adjacent neighborhoods, and rough nightlife corridors

Gang Allies: Downtown Ds, T-Riders, and underground music-scene fences

Gang Description:
The Mohawk Marauders are a wild street-punk crew recognized by brightly colored mohawks, patched leather jackets, heavy boots, and aggressive group tactics. They prey on nightlife crowds, music venues, transit routes, and isolated pedestrians. Although less structured than Boston’s larger gangs, the Marauders are dangerous in numbers and frequently use theatrical intimidation to build their reputation.

RED BANDS

Gang Leader: Marcus “Red Mark” Bell

Gang Description:
The Red Bands are one of Boston’s largest and most openly territorial street gangs. Their members wear red bandanas, wrist wraps, jackets, or other visible red identifiers. The gang is heavily involved in narcotics, weapons trafficking, intimidation, and street-level enforcement. Red Mark Bell encourages an aggressive reputation and is willing to engage in prolonged gang conflict when territory or prestige is threatened.

SOUTHIE SLUGGERS

Gang Leader: Patrick “Paddy Slug” O’Rourke

Gang Description:
The Southie Sluggers are an old-school bruiser gang built around neighborhood identity, bar culture, and direct intimidation. Their members are known for collection beatings, organized bar fights, illegal gambling enforcement, and protection work. Paddy Slug promotes a reputation for physical toughness and prefers blunt displays of strength over complex criminal planning.

STEVEDORES

Gang Leader: Martin “Hookline” Devane

Location/Territory: Cargo piers, warehouse docks, freight yards, and shipping-transfer points

Gang Allies: Harbor Sharks, Brandywines, and selected corrupt dockworkers

Gang Enemies: Downtown Ds, federal customs agents, and anti-smuggling task forces

Weapons of Choice: Cargo hooks, crowbars, pistols, and shotguns

Gang Description:
The Stevedores are a labor-rooted cargo crime syndicate composed of dockworkers, freight handlers, warehouse crews, and waterfront enforcers. They steal, redirect, conceal, and transport contraband through legitimate shipping channels. Older and more disciplined than many street gangs, the Stevedores rely on workplace access, union relationships, and detailed knowledge of freight schedules to protect their operations.

T-RIDERS

Gang Leader: Jamal “Rail King” Mercer

Number of Members: 29

Location/Territory: MBTA subway lines, bus terminals, station platforms, and commuter chokepoints

Gang Allies: Downtown Ds, Foster Boys, and Malchicas

Gang Enemies: Harbor Sharks, Brickmasters, and the MBTA Transit Police

Weapons of Choice: Handguns, knives, tasers, and metal bars

Gang Description:
The T-Riders are a highly mobile transit-based gang named after Boston’s MBTA system. They use subway and bus routes as a moving network for theft, courier work, muggings, contraband transfers, and rapid escapes. Rail King Mercer has organized members into small station-based crews that share information about police activity, transit delays, security cameras, and vulnerable targets.
