In Texas, there's an army of street gangs that operate within the state. Each street gang is a gang made up of kids, teenagers and/or young adults not to exceed 50 members; more than 50 members constitutes its own entry under "Gangs".

The following is a list of known street gangs in the Austin, Texas region in the MDU (and are not reflective, representative, nor associative of any existing or defunct gangs in the real world in any respective manner).

Adult Educators
Leader: Malcolm “Tenure” Ellis
Number of Members: 22
Location / Territory: University-adjacent districts, North Campus fringes, the Drag area, student-housing corridors, bookstores, coffeehouse zones, and mixed academic nightlife areas
Allies: Gaea Gang
Enemies: Rave Raiders; Keep Austin Vicious
Weapons of Choice: Compact pistols, tasers, collapsible batons, pepper spray, knives

Brief Description:
The Adult Educators are one of Austin’s most unusual and disciplined street gangs. Formed from burned-out graduate students, failed academics, adjuncts, researchers, older students, and highly intelligent criminals, they operate like a street gang wrapped in campus culture, pseudo-intellectual authority, and manipulative social leverage.

They thrive on recruitment, student-theft rings, tutoring-for-cover operations, blackmail, prescription diversion, access-card abuse, records fraud, and influence across university-adjacent properties. They often see themselves as more organized and more intelligent than the city’s other gangs—and are frequently right.

Gaea Gang
Leader: Rowan “Roots” Alvarez
Number of Members: 27
Location / Territory: South Austin greenbelts, Barton Creek-adjacent zones, trail systems, eco-market districts, park edges, and redevelopment pressure zones
Allies: Adult Educators
Enemies: Keep Austin Vicious; Rave Raiders
Weapons of Choice: Knives, hatchets, slings, bows, heavy sticks, compact pistols

Brief Description:
The Gaea Gang is an eco-minded Austin street gang that emerged from activist circles, greenbelt communities, anti-redevelopment groups, and people convinced that Austin’s natural spaces are constantly being carved up, sold off, or invaded.

They are not harmless idealists. Their defense of “their” spaces can become intensely territorial, criminal, and ruthless. They operate around encampments, hidden trails, stolen produce, back-channel resource exchanges, protest-cover actions, and intimidation of developers, trespassers, or rival gangs entering their zones.

Keep Austin Vicious
Leader: Travis “Razor Tongue” Boone
Number of Members: 30
Location / Territory: Central Austin fringe zones, redevelopment corridors, mural districts, skate spots, punk bars, old commercial blocks, and neighborhoods resisting over-corporatization
Allies: None formal
Enemies: Silk Sally Social Club; Adult Educators; Gaea Gang
Weapons of Choice: Pistols, crowbars, chains, knives, baseball bats

Brief Description:
Keep Austin Vicious is a violent parody of the city’s cultural self-image. Built from skaters, punks, dropouts, artists, tattooists, low-level musicians, anti-gentrification hardcases, and street criminals furious at what Austin has become, they use the name as both mockery and warning.

They target redevelopment zones, trendy businesses, polished nightlife rivals, and anyone they view as fake, soft, or corporate. Their crimes range from vandalism and extortion to robbery, vehicle theft, intimidation, and domination of older neighborhood pockets being pushed out by money and image.

They are not noble preservationists. They are angry, territorial, often self-destructive, and unmistakably Austin.

Rave Raiders
Leader: Janelle “Strobe” Vega
Number of Members: 21
Location / Territory: Warehouse-party districts, club zones, festival-adjacent spaces, late-night entertainment corridors, and abandoned commercial properties used for underground events
Allies: Silk Sally Social Club
Enemies: Adult Educators; Gaea Gang
Weapons of Choice: Compact pistols, tasers, chains, knives, collapsible batons

Brief Description:
The Rave Raiders are Austin’s most aggressive nightlife-chaos gang, thriving in warehouse parties, after-hours scenes, underground events, and places where noise, light, intoxication, and confusion give them cover.

Their income comes from theft, narcotics, admissions scams, intimidation, event infiltration, and controlling parts of Austin’s underground nightlife economy. They are mobile, disruptive, and opportunistic rather than static.

Silk Sally Social Club
Leader: Cassandra “Silk Sally” Moreno
Number of Members: 24
Location / Territory: East Austin nightlife, upscale bars, retro lounges, boutique hotel zones, music venues, and older entertainment corridors
Allies: Rave Raiders
Enemies: Keep Austin Vicious; Adult Educators
Weapons of Choice: Concealed pistols, knives, stilettos, garrotes, brass knuckles

Brief Description:
The Silk Sally Social Club is a polished, stylish, socially strategic Austin gang operating through lounges, bars, private parties, music venues, and retro nightlife spaces. They present themselves as a glamorous social circle, but beneath that surface they run extortion, leverage games, theft, influence brokering, and selective violence.

Unlike rougher crews, Silk Sally’s people weaponize access—who gets invited in, who gets excluded, who gets compromised, and who ends up indebted. Their influence over nightlife workers, musicians, hosts, promoters, and scene-climbers gives them quiet power in a city built on visibility and social status.
