CHARACTER SUMMARY
For Sagittarius, every boundary is an invitation—and every warning is someone else’s fear. Peruvian mutant Lucía Valcárcel combines extraordinary trajectory perception with XIII LTD’s advanced archery weapons, deceptive arrow payloads, and precision traps. From her coastal expedition compound near Matarani, she directs the Order of the Zodiac’s search into Peru’s interior. Charismatic, resourceful, and relentlessly adventurous, she knows how to find a way forward—even when others must pay the price.
HISTORY
Born in Mollendo, Peru, Lucía Valcárcel grew up with the Pacific coast behind her and the routes into the interior ahead. Movement fascinated her: ships entering harbor, freight crossing difficult terrain, and people finding passages through places others considered impassable. She developed an enduring appetite for travel, exploration, and the satisfaction of reaching somewhere she had been told she could not go.
Her mutant abilities sharpened that appetite. Lucía could perceive motion and trajectories with unusual clarity, anticipate where moving objects would intersect, and make limited corrections to her own airborne movement and projectiles she launched. Archery gave those abilities a demanding, practical focus. Navigation, climbing, field operations, and expedition logistics supplied the skills to carry her ambitions farther.
Lucía became an effective expedition leader because she understood that reaching a destination required more than courage. Transport, supplies, equipment, reliable staging areas, and contingency routes mattered as much as the final ascent. She could inspire exhausted personnel, improvise around setbacks, and make difficult journeys appear achievable.
Her greatest failing emerged from the same confidence. Freedom became something she believed she deserved regardless of its cost to others. When an expedition’s harmful consequences became clear, Lucía knowingly chose to continue. She understood that turning back remained possible; reaching the objective mattered more.
The Order of the Zodiac offered resources, extraordinary objectives, and the opportunity to operate beyond restrictions she increasingly resented. As Sagittarius, Lucía became an expedition leader, scout, pursuer, and mobile ranged combatant. XIII LTD supplies her advanced archery weapons, ammunition, traps, and specialist devices, allowing her to combine mutant precision with an extensive technological arsenal.
She now operates from a private expedition-support compound near Matarani. Its warehouses, vehicles, equipment stores, and coastal freight access sustain investigations farther inland. Her search draws her toward the Cusco region, but the anchor’s precise location remains unknown to her. Maps, reports, field surveys, and uncertain clues still require interpretation—and can still lead her astray.
Charismatic, outspoken, and often funny, Sagittarius makes dangerous undertakings feel like opportunities. She values initiative and resents confinement, yet readily manipulates another person’s choices through deception and carefully prepared traps. She believes she is choosing her own course within the Order.
POWERS
TRAJECTORY PERCEPTION — Remarkable (30)
-
Sagittarius perceives the movement, direction, and likely intersection of visible objects with exceptional clarity. She uses this awareness to judge shots, anticipate moving targets, select routes through hazardous terrain, and time airborne maneuvers.
-
She receives +1CS to Intuition FEATs involving visible trajectories and moving-object relationships. This ability does not reveal unseen targets, predict another person’s decisions, or provide knowledge of concealed locations.
SELF-TRAJECTORY CORRECTION — Remarkable (30)
-
While airborne, Sagittarius can make one significant correction to her own trajectory. This can adjust a leap, improve alignment with a landing point, or help her reach a viable handhold.
-
She cannot fly, hover, repeatedly accelerate through the air, or cancel the consequences of a potentially fatal fall. Available momentum and physical circumstances remain important.
PROJECTILE GUIDANCE — Remarkable (30)
-
Sagittarius can make one modest course correction to a projectile she personally launches while it remains within 200 feet and she maintains sufficient awareness of its path.
-
She can actively guide only one projectile at a time. Guidance can compensate for movement or a limited aiming error; it cannot produce impossible turns, repeated loops, automatic pursuit of unseen targets, or additional impact damage.
-
She cannot redirect an opponent’s bullets, control projectiles launched by others, or redistribute force.
CONTROLLED LANDING
-
Her trajectory awareness provides +1CS to Agility FEATs for landing, tumbling, or catching a viable support during a descent. This improves control without granting immunity to impact or injury.
MOVING INTERCEPTION
A successful Remarkable power FEAT can reduce an applicable movement-related archery penalty by 1CS. This reflects her ability to coordinate her movement with a target’s trajectory. It does not grant unrestricted accuracy or remove unrelated penalties.
EQUIPMENT
XIII LTD ARCHERY SYSTEMS
All of Sagittarius’s archery weapons, arrows, quiver systems, traps, and specialist devices are supplied by XIII LTD. She selects and deploys the equipment to suit each mission.
SIXTH-GENERATION ADAPTIVE COMPOUND BOW
-
Her custom bow incorporates powered draw assistance, variable draw settings, equipment diagnostics, and electronic aiming support. Its structure has Incredible material strength.
-
Conventional arrows inflict Excellent shooting damage. Her principal precision engagement range is 200 feet.
-
Powered assistance depends on an operational charge. A reduced-capability manual mode remains available when assistance is depleted or disabled. The bow launches physical arrows.
SMART QUIVER AND RESERVE AMMUNITION
-
Her tactile-indexed smart quiver carries 24 full-length arrows. Payload selection varies by mission; she does not carry an unlimited supply of every arrow type.
-
Additional collapsible-shaft arrows are carried in compact cartridge racks on both forearms, both outer thighs, and both quiver shoulder straps. These reserves require deployment and preparation before firing.
CONVENTIONAL ARROWS
Broadhead and target-point arrows provide dependable options when specialized payloads are unnecessary.
RESTRAINT ARROWS
Deploy adhesive or filament restraints with Excellent strength. Effectiveness depends on placement, available attachment surfaces, and the target’s ability to break free.
OBSCURANT ARROWS
Release an obscuring cloud across an approximately 20-foot radius. Air movement, ventilation, and suitable sensors can reduce its effectiveness.
SENSOR ARROWS
Carry a selected camera, microphone, or environmental sensor package for remote observation. Each arrow’s capabilities depend on its installed module, power, communications, and placement.
FALSE-PRESENCE ARROWS
-
Deploy miniature speakers, lights, holographic emitters, or combined packages to create misleading activity at their impact locations.
-
Effects can include false footsteps, voices, flashes, apparent movement, or short programmed figures. Several arrows can suggest approaching reinforcements, multiple firing positions, or apparent encirclement.
-
Activation can be immediate, delayed, remotely commanded, or triggered by an installed sensor. Sagittarius uses these arrows to divert attention, influence movement, and lure targets toward prepared traps.
-
Projections remain localized and non-solid. Lighting, viewing angle, inspection, and suitable sensors can expose the deception. The arrows cannot guarantee that a target believes or follows the distraction.
ELECTRONIC DISRUPTION ARROWS
Deliver Excellent disruption against susceptible electronic systems. Shielding, system design, and contact conditions affect results. They do not automatically disable every device or advanced opponent.
BREACHING ARROWS
Provide Excellent breaching capability when correctly placed against a suitable target. They are specialized tools rather than universal armor-piercing ammunition.
TETHER ARROWS
Deploy a Remarkable-strength line for crossings, climbing assistance, equipment retrieval, or controlled movement. A successful crossing depends on a secure anchor; line strength does not guarantee that the attachment surface will hold.
TRAPS AND SUPPORT DEVICES
XIII LTD restraint-filament modules, compact emitters, remote triggers, and sensor packages allow Sagittarius to prepare controlled approaches and ambushes. Deployment requires time, suitable terrain, and available equipment.
A targeting monocle, compact reconnaissance drone, and expedition tools support observation and field operations. Their functions remain subject to power, communications, environmental conditions, and interference.
ZODIAC FIELD COSTUME
Her protective costume combines oxblood armor, ivory plates, and gunmetal flexible sections, with the astrological Sagittarius glyph displayed on her chest.
Integrated bracers, reinforced boots, ammunition racks, and quiver harness support mobile archery and expedition work. The costume provides practical protection without making her invulnerable.
TALENTS
ARCHERY
Sagittarius receives +1CS to Agility when using bows. She is skilled in conventional shooting, specialized payload selection, moving engagements, and adapting shots to difficult terrain.
ACROBATICS AND CLIMBING
She receives +1CS to applicable Agility FEATs involving balance, climbing, tumbling, and practiced acrobatic movement.
EXPEDITION LOGISTICS
She receives +1CS to applicable Reason FEATs involving expedition planning, freight coordination, supply requirements, staging facilities, route support, and field contingencies.
NAVIGATION AND ROUTE ASSESSMENT
She receives +1CS to applicable Reason or Intuition FEATs involving navigation, map interpretation, terrain assessment, and route selection. Incomplete or misleading information can still produce incorrect conclusions.
REMOTE OPERATIONS
She is proficient with reconnaissance drones, remote sensors, decoy emitters, and programmable field devices.
EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE
She receives +1CS to applicable Reason FEATs for maintaining and diagnosing her familiar archery systems and expedition equipment. This does not make her the designer of every XIII LTD technology she uses.
PERSUASION AND FIELD LEADERSHIP
She receives +1CS to appropriate social FEATs involving expedition leadership, persuasion, and maintaining confidence under difficult conditions.
DEFENSIVE COMBAT
She is trained to evade close attacks, create distance, and reposition for ranged combat. She favors mobility, terrain, and preparation over prolonged exchanges with stronger opponents.
