HISTORY
Malcolm Ranger was a decorated United States Marine who served in multiple post-Soltan-Invasion conflict zones during Earth's reconstruction following the Soltan Invasion of 2000.

Due to prior combat injuries and cybernetic prosthetics, Ranger was selected for the EX-91 Vanguard Combat Exosuit Project, a classified U.S. Marine experimental weapons program designed to create the ultimate infantry platform.

The EX-91 required direct neural interfacing with a pilot's nervous system, allowing the suit to move and fight as an extension of the user's body.
Most candidates rejected the procedure.

Malcolm did not.

His existing cybernetic implants allowed him to tolerate the interface better than any other test subject.

During a classified combat test scenario, catastrophic system feedback fused Ranger’s nervous system permanently with the exosuit's control architecture.

Malcolm Ranger ceased to exist as a normal human being.

He became Flagship.

Project Shutdown
The EX-91 program was deemed too expensive and logistically impractical:
-
enormous maintenance demands
-
massive support crews
-
limited deployability\
The project was canceled.

With the program terminated, the U.S. government prepared to decommission the suit, effectively leaving Malcolm on life support with little priority for continued operation.

Major Invader Intervention
Before shutdown procedures could be completed, Major Invader intervened.

Without Department of Defense authorization, Major Invader conducted a covert extraction of Malcolm and his support team from the military installation where he was housed.

Flagship was immediately deployed during an operation to stop a superhuman assassination attempt.

After the mission’s success:
-
Major Invader purchased the remaining EX-91 infrastructure
-
hired the technical support team
-
relocated the program to Allied Fighters HQ

Malcolm Ranger now serves as a member of Zeta Squad, the Allied Fighters' training unit. For the first time since his accident, he has:
-
a purpose
-
a mission
-
a team
