History
In the chaos that followed the Soltan Invasion of 2000, the Arabian region saw a sharp rise in robbery, smuggling, black-market trafficking, and organized violence. From that lawless climate emerged Dawid, a ruthless and highly disciplined criminal leader who unified several gangs under his command and reforged them into a new version of the infamous 40 Thieves.
Unlike the many imitators who had used the old name in past centuries, Dawid turned the 40 Thieves into a true criminal order. He trained his followers mercilessly, forging them into expert infiltrators, assassins, raiders, and treasure hunters. Those who survived his brutal methods were rewarded with wealth, status, and access to stolen magical relics. Under Dawid’s command, the 40 Thieves rapidly became one of the most feared criminal guilds in Arabia.
As authorities closed in, Dawid led the gang into the western desert of the United Arab Emirates, where he used ancient Arabian relics to uncover and unlock a hidden fortress buried beneath the dunes. This site proved to be the long-lost original refuge of the historic Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves. Within its vast underground chambers, Dawid discovered not only treasure, but also enchanted weapons, mystical artifacts, hidden vaults, and old desert sorcery. From that moment on, Dawid ceased being merely a gang lord and became the master of a reborn legend.
From the hidden desert stronghold, Dawid rebuilt the 40 Thieves into a far more dangerous organization. Some members eventually departed with their wealth, vanishing from history under suspicious circumstances. Others remained, becoming deadlier, more loyal, and more deeply tied to Dawid’s expanding criminal empire.
One of the defining moments of Dawid’s life came during a raid on the compound of wealthy UAE sheik Sharif Shukr. Dawid and twenty-five thieves attacked the estate in a bloody assault. Dawid killed Sharif, but not before the sheik managed to destroy one of Dawid’s eyes in a final act of resistance.
During the same raid, Dawid discovered that Sharif’s son possessed the extraordinary ability to transform into living sand. The boy tried to stop him, but failed. Rather than kill the child, Dawid took him and raised him within the brutal culture of the 40 Thieves. Through abuse,
manipulation, and relentless training, Dawid molded the boy into one of his most dangerous operatives, renaming him Mansur and regarding him as an adopted son.
Years later, that choice nearly destroyed everything Dawid had built.
Mansur eventually betrayed Dawid and the guild, emerging as the hero Sandlance and coming close to wiping out the 40 Thieves entirely. Though Dawid survived and rebuilt, the betrayal left a permanent scar deeper than the loss of his eye. Since then, Dawid has placed a massive standing bounty on Sandlance, treating the hunt for his former adopted son as both personal vengeance and unfinished business.
Today, Dawid once again stands at the head of the 40 Thieves. Though the organization still uses its historic name, it now numbers far beyond forty members and includes elite thieves, super-powered operatives, traffickers, assassins, enslaved assets, and mystical specialists. From his hidden desert base, Dawid continues to expand the reach of the guild across Arabia and into the wider world, blending ancient magic, criminal strategy, and fear into a growing international threat.
Dawid is no mere thief. He is the architect of a modern criminal legend: a one-eyed warlord of treasure, magic, and vengeance who intends to make the name of the 40 Thieves feared across the globe.
Powers
Power Origin: Natural / External Mystical Augmentation
Dawid possesses no innate superhuman powers of his own. His battlefield effectiveness comes from his intelligence, combat skill, leadership, and his mastery of ancient enchanted relics, weapons, and artifacts. In practice, these items make him an extremely dangerous magical crime lord with a versatile and unpredictable arsenal.
