MAJOR DEEJ UNIVERSE

Father, Zhang Wu, was one of the most highly skilled computer encryption specialists and computer programmers in all of China. He'd been awarded several major awards, one even by the Chinese Premiere in a formal ceremony. His daughter, Li, grew up just as brilliant and smart as he was.  The mother, however, felt slighted and seemed to have a run of bad luck in everything (birth messed up her health, she damaged her vocal chords and talked 'funny', had a nervous condition and dropped things, etc.).  She wanted to divorce her husband and run off with a (sexy?) government man, but that would've been bad for both of them, so, as such, the mother and the government man set up Li and her father Wu to take a hard fall in regards to trumped up charges of treason and selling government secrets to the Americans...just so the mother and government man could make a way to be together.

Wu was arrested and Li removed from the home and sent to a 'disciplinary facility' where she was tortured for information against her father (which she had none since the charges were false) and forced to spew government rhetoric or be beaten and abused until she broke. Wu died at the hands of his interrogators, leaving Li utterly destroyed. The mother, on the other hand, got exactly what she wanted and was able to marry the government man. Sadly for the pair of them, the day before their wedding, both were killed by Zhang Wu's (unstable) brother in retribution.  The brother was killed by the police a day later.  This left Li in a precarious position for the government; should they just kill her or should they force her and her brilliant mind to be a government agent teach her to do the work her father did and replace him?

Years later, Zhang Li graduated as valedictorian of her Chinese University earning a masters in computer programming and encryption mathematics at age 18.  She was then forced to work for the Chinese government in one of their most secretive facilities, finding and stopping international high-level hackers from breaking into the Chinese network. There, while engaged in an online cyber-battle, she encountered 'Corsair Commander', leader of the Virtual Warriors hacker group.  Incredibly, they became 'online friends' rather than enemies.  Corsair Commander set up a way for Li to leave China undetected and meet him (her?) in the United States and join his (her?) band of online pirates.

Like a perfect plan, it went off without a hitch.  By the time Li arrived in the United States, all records of Zhang Li were wiped from every computer system in the world, including China's secret network files.  Over the next few years, Corsair Commander and Li, now going by the codename "Code Ninja" trained each other in their amazing skills.  To add to that, Li also took the time to train in physical combat, martial arts and the 'ways of the ninja' (which was a childhood dream of hers to do). Not too long ago, they parted ways with the Virtual Warriors and created the Virtual Corsairs instead.  Code Ninja became the 2nd in command under Corsair Commander.

Today, 'Code Ninja' is just that; a highly skilled Ninja with remarkable martial arts skills and equally impressive computer programming, hacking, encrypting and cybercrime skills. To this day, it is not known what her relationship is with Corsair Commander, but it is guessed to be 'intimate'...even though no one has ever seen the two of them together for anything other than operating as professionals and leaders.

Code Ninja is a dangerous woman. She has no morality and no compunction to kill.  She would easily kill a dog or a child than an adult.  She cares not for others and despises her Chinese homeland and government and does everything she can (code-wise) to destroy their national network and systems.  She considers her teammates "necessary", but would rather run away than save them. She is truly a vicious coder.
