Klaus Kemal was a naturalized US adopted child from Germany who's foster parents raised him in Dayton, Ohio (USA). The foster parents and their family were fervently patriotic Americans; a family in which Klaus was more than happy to be part of.  As a result, Klaus grew up with great family support and a powerful education, leading him to earn a scholarship in ROTC and chemical engineering.

 

Klaus earned dual PhDs in Chemical Engineering and Biotoxin Management all while completing his ROTC training, which quickly turned his chemical education into a Department of Defense (DoD) research asset. Klaus Kemal was considered one of the brightest chemical warfare minds in the U.S. Army's CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Defense) branch.

 

During the Soltan Invasion in 2000, Klaus was noted A staunch constitutionalist raised by Cold War veterans, he became disillusioned after the Soltan Invasion when his post-invasion chemical R&D was redirected under UN oversight and then repurposed for foreign-controlled biotech companies.

When he uncovered that his work had been used to produce psychotropic suppressants for urban crowd control under the direction of a UN program, Kemal blew the whistle—and disappeared. Labeled unstable and dangerous, he was disavowed, and his records scrubbed. That’s when General Patrick found him.

In 2016, Klaus resurfaced as Captain Kemikal, the Order’s undisputed authority on chemical warfare and experimental field synthesis.

Klaus is a patriotic American, however, quite sadistic in nature. He finds psychological satisfaction in seeing his compounds work. He enjoys the slow fear his presence induces. Klaus is always analyzing enemies for weaknesses—both chemical and psychological. He’ll often mark targets for future experimentation. Despite his twisted methods, Klaus believes he's defending the nation’s soul—one gas cloud at a time. Known for gallows humor on the battlefield, he calls his gases things like “Liberty Mist,” “Red, White, and Pew,” and “Freedom Fog.”

One of his famous quotes that Captain Kemikal used moments before releasing his "Chlorine Dusk" during a Missouri Counter-Raid was:

“The Founders fought with powder and steel. I fight with vapor and resolve. You think that’s tyranny you’re breathing? No... that’s the scent of your sins catching up to you.”
 

​Today, Captain Kemikal is active and deployed with Cell Echo-Two, all while still supporting Alpha-Seven operations.
