History

III History

Born in 1975, Anton Ostrovsky was born in Moscow, Russia (then known as the Soviet Union).  Since then, his life has been a rollercoaster that even to this day never seems to end for him.

Anton's father, Oskar Ostrovsky AKA the Soviet superhero known as "Dospehi (II)", in 1991, was arrested as part of an attempted military coupe of the new Russian Federation President, Boris YeltsinOskar's wife and children were also sent to prison, however, Oskar's oldest son, Anton, who was 16 years old at that time, escaped capture and instead hooked up with the remnants of his father's militant and super-powered group (called the Red Guard) that didn't get capture in the failed coupe.

While in hiding with the Red Guard, the leader of the coupe, a man code-named Generalissimus, contacted Anton and began to train young Anton to be a proper soldier.  It didn't take long before the Generalissimus discovered that Anton had the same powers, if not more powerful, as his father, Oskar.  Several weeks into all of this, the Generalissimus decided it was time to set things in motion to 'get our people and our families back', to which Anton's mother, brother, sister and father were amongst.

After practicing endless exercises, the day came when Generalissimus ordered several stealthy attacks on several Russian locations, all to get the equipment, weapons and materials he needed to pull off one of the greatest prison breaks ever. Anton, using his super-powers, led the charge to a secure military site where the Dospehi Mk III armor was being kept.  Not a single Russian was killed in the attack and Anton and his team recovered the Mk III armor and its support equipment without issue.  The Generalissimus praised Anton and swore that one day, Anton would be the next 'Dospehi' in honor of his and his father's unwavering dedication to the Soviet Union. As such, Anton considered the Generalissimus a true Soviet patriotic role model, just like his Anton's father - a father that was in need of rescuing from prison.

Months later, Anton's father, mother, brother and sister, along with hundreds of other imprisoned troops and family members, were all freed during a prison break led by the Generalissimus, but spearheaded by the new Dospehi (III) AKA Anton who was wearing the Mark III armor.  All were brought to a new, hidden secret base far from Russia - in Greenland.

For the next few years, they lived in a secretive base in Greenland in a old hidden and abandoned radar listening post in northern Greenland. The Generalissimus had amassed a veritable army and even more weapons and equipment to wage war to regain the lands in Russia that were intended to become the Soviet Union once again. To do this, the Generalissimus deduced that he needed a foothold in the Russian region.  As a result, he chose to invade Lithuania and start his war on Russia from there. The Generalissimus, who'd awarded a "Hero of the Soviet Union" medal to Anton for his efforts in the massive jailbreaks, wanted Anton to be the next new Dospehi for the Lithuanian invasion.

Before that could happen, the Soltan Star Empire invaded Earth in 2000. For the most part, the Red Guard didn't engage the Soltans much, but when they finally did, the losses were catastrophic. Anton's father, Oskar, still wearing the Mark III Dospehi armor fought hard against the Soltans, leading to several bad personal injuries; injuries that hindered his performance more than ever before.  At times, Anton had to wear the Mark III armor while his father was healing.  As such, both father and son fought a valiant battle against the Soltans, while the Red Guard's troops sadly dwindled throughout their encounters with the Soltans. Finally, several months after the start of the invasion, the Soltans left Earth.  The Red Guard would take years to rebuild to be ready for the Lithuanian invasion again, and as such, it became more evident that Anton's father, Dospehi II, was beginning to feel his age and the results of decades of battle injuries and damage to his body. Everyone knew Oskar's time as Dospehi II was over - including Oskar himself.

Just prior to the launch of the Red Guard's invasion into Lithuania, Anton's father, Oskar, pleaded with the Generalissimus to be Dospehi one last time; to go down in history as part of the start of the next great revolution to bring back the Soviet Union. The Generalissimus reluctantly agreed. the Generalissimus, however, told Anton in confidence to be ready to replace his father should the need arise. To that end, the Generalissimus had Anton work on the new Mark IV armor with all the latest stolen tech from the West and hundreds of new gadgets gleaned from the stolen/appropriated Soviet military sites that the Generalissimus raided in 1991. As Anton's father went off with the invasion team to Lithuania in 2010, little did Anton know that this would be the last time he'd see his father alive again.

In August 2010, the remnants of a defeated Red Guard returned to their secret base in Greenland from their failed Lithuanian Invasion.  Anton's father, Oskar AKA Dospehi II, died saving the remaining Red Guard's during their retreat. Oskar's body was given a proper funeral, but in a separate cemetery where the rest of the villainous Red Guard troops were laid to rest. Anton immediately offered himself up as the next Dospehi.

The Dospehi Mark III armor was damaged beyond repair. It was instead sent to Moscow by the Lithuanian government to be placed on display with the original Dospehi Mark I & II armors, all of which were instead kept in a dank, wet cellar in the museum, undisplayed and left to rust. There, all three armors remained until all three armored suits were 're appropriated' by the Red Guard. All that was left was a note stating 'Taken to where they will be properly honored' signed by "-Generalissimus".

Shortly thereafter, in a prestigious ceremony in the "Soviet Guard Hall of Heroes", the three old Dospehi armored suits, cleaned up and made viewable as best they could for display, were unveiled to the Red Guard (now known as the Soviet Guard) troops, families and personnel. In that same ceremony, Anton Ostrovsky was officially debuted as the 'new' Dospehi (III) in the new Mark IV armor.  To massive applause, songs, and celebration, Anton became the next Dospehi.

Today, Anton as Dospehi (III) continues to be a powerhouse and 'tank' for the Soviet Guard. His dedication to the Soviet Guard is unwavering, as is his patriotism to the Soviet Union and all of the troops in their ranks. He is a proud and smart man, and although he sees the benefits of the West's society, he still believes that the 'best' path is a path without capitalism and corruption; a path he is willing to lay his life on the line for every day. To this day, he still does not know what was said by the Generalissimus on the pier in Lithuania that led to his father's death...but then again, who else was left to see or hear that conversation except the Genealissimus, Anton's father...and anyone else who'd been spying on them during the retreat...

History

II History

During the start of the Cold War (1946), the Soviet Union attempted to form their own form of superhero group by using science and compiling medical data on 'unique' people otherwise known as 'people with special powers and abilities'.  Since most of these people were killed during 'The Great Purge' and World War II, only a handful of these 'unique' people were left. As such, even with the greatest effort of the Soviet leadership, they could not find enough viable citizens to form a team, or for that matter, a team that could perform/use their powers for the good of the state.  One man, however, was found that could to what was needed; a man who was made to wear the latest Dospehi armor - an imprisoned Soviet military Captain by the name of Oskar Ostrovsky.

In 1944, young Oskar, as an enlisted man, led his troops against Nazi strongholds again and again. This warranted a field promotion for Oskar to Lieutenant, wherein he was placed in charge of an infantry division.  After his promotion, he again excelled, storming into battle with his men. The troop losses were heavy, however Oskar miraculously kept coming out of the battles with only scratches.  Eventually, medics discovered these mere 'scratches' were from bullets and/or shrapnel from grenades and/or anti-personnel mines' that had actually bounced off his skin rather than pierce it.  The man's skin was dense, like metal, but still soft to the tough, looking exactly like skin.

He was a 'unique'.

After word got to Moscow, the Captain was arrested and placed in prison, where he was tested, probed and brutally analyzed for the next year. The KGB consistently interrogated Oskar attempting to find 'more of his kind', but Oskar knew of no one else, not even in his family, that had these abilities. He did, however, mention his grandfather was exposed to a mustard gas attack during World War I in a location noted for where the Germans mixed in a (unknown at that time) mutagenic compound called X-65. He stated his father was born immediately after the war and within 4 years of his father's birth, his grandfather finally succumbed to the effects of the mustard gas. Nonetheless, no one else in his family bore any powers or 'unique' abilities other than Oskar.

While Oskar was being imprisoned, the engineers and scientists of the Soviet Union were hard at work on new weapons; nuclear bombs, missiles, new jet fighters, and powerful tank-like infantry suits much like that used by their renown Soviet military superhero, Dospehi (see Dospehi I).  The World War II armor designs for the original Dospehi were lost in a convoy accident during the war and for years engineers attempted to replicate if not improve on the suit's abilities.  By 1946, they finally created a prototype Mark II Dospehi armor. Sadly, the person in the armored suit had to wear a special asbestos bodysuit due to the heat the armored suit generated internally.  This armored suit operated at a relatively steady temperature of 110 degrees F in a normal environment's heat, and that was with full blown cooling system operating in (without the cooling systems, the suit's operational temperature would easily reach 180-200 degrees F).  As such, the test pilots for the armored suit would usually emerge with burns (even through the asbestos bodysuits) as well as severe dehydration (even when rigged to a water supply feed).  Sadly, the engineers were about to scrap the whole suit design...until one KGB agent who'd been interrogating Oskar Ostrobsky had an idea.

Oskar was brought to the test facility for the Mark II Dospehi armor and suited up in the asbestos bodysuit.  An explosive belt with a remote detonation device was place on Oskar in case he might 'be disinclined to serve the state', even though Oskar stated that even though he'd been treated badly, he was still a soldier of the Soviet Union and put duty above all else.  Oskar not only took to the armor like a fish to water, but he was able to operate the armor for up to 10 hours without any negative physical issues.  His mutant ability to absorb pain and heat damage and not sweat due to excessive heat, coupled with the realization he had increased strength and stamina as well as an incredible healing factor made him a perfect candidate for the armor's use.

After 2 weeks of rigorous testing, the armor's performance was displayed to the Soviet leader, Joseph Stalin, in a secret location. There, Oskar showed off the power and capabilities of the battlesuit. Stalin was impressed and demanded an entire division of the Dospehi suits be made, only to be told the secret behind the armor's capability was one man; a 'unique' man.

Stalin was so upset, he had the lead engineer shot on sight.  Stalin angrily voiced his displeasure at the engineering team, demanding they apply their knowledge to 'fix' the heat problem to allow 'real' Soviet heroes to wear the suit.  He demanded that Oskar be placed back in the Gulag and left to die for being 'unique'. The Dospehi Mark II armor program died about a year later mostly due to a majority of the engineers an scientists being arrested and/or sent to die in prisons around Russia.

In 1953, Stalin died and his replacement was Georgy Malenkov.  Although he didn't last long (died the same year), Nikita Khrushchev did come into power. He was the KGB agent that brought Oskar Ostrovsky to the Dospehi Mark II armor program.  As one of his first orders of business, he released the old Dospehi Mark II armor engineers and scientists from prison, created a new engineering lab for them and released Oskar as well.  Although initially emaciated, Oskar was back to full trim within four months; four months which was all the time that was needed for the engineering team (who were highly motivated to work around the clock) upgraded the armor to a Mark III version with more armor plating, more cooling and a stronger exoskeleton, making the armor that of a veritable 'super-tank'.  Oskar once again, duty-bound, tested the armor and proved that he was the best person to withstand and support the heavy mechanical equipment to operate the armor and still absorb the suit's heat (which, with all the new modifications, still stayed at about 100-110 degrees F in operational temps inside the suit).  Khrushchev was given a demonstration of the Mark III armor and Oskar's capabilities once again.  This time, however, Khrushchev believed that the one suit was enough and that is was enough to invoke the necessary 'fear' into the West; he knew the West had nothing like this armored suit, and as such, believed the new Dospehi would be a massive deterrent to prevent...or incite...battles, pending on Dospehi's utilization.

For the next four decades, Oskar became a Soviet military and political tool as the new Dospehi (II).  He was used in nearly every major conflict, uprising, stand-off and/or deterrence effort throughout the Cold War period.  During this time, Oskar was given 'benefits' of that of a Hero of the Soviet Union, including a wife to marry and a beautiful, large home to raise his children in.  His family did well and were brought up and raised all as die-hard Soviet communists. Eventually, Oskar's oldest son joined the Soviet military as his father had.  As part of his medical procedure, Oskar's son, Anton, was found to have the same powers as his father, but to a greater level. Oskar's other children did not show any powers, even after several tests were done on them.  Nonetheless, Oskar remained Dospehi well into what should have been his retirement years.

In 1991, the Soviet Union was no more and the Russian Federation was the new Russia. the Dospehi program was dissolved and forgotten (most of the team was already dead from old age or retired), leaving Oskar without a paycheck or a means of income.  As such, after a quick meeting with a certain "Generalssimus", Oskar 'obtained' the Dospehi armor and instead joined the Generalissimus' Red Guard; a militant group of ex-Soviets bent on bringing back the power and glory of the Soviet Union.  Although more feeble with age, he was still stronger and tougher than an average man of 30.  The armor was more uncomfortable and was only able to operate it for a couple hours at most before he tired.  At one point, when the Generalissimus was ready to produce a coup d'état against Russian Federation President Boris Yeltsin, Oskar, in his Dospehi armor, who was supposed to be at the forefront of the fight at Yeltsin's building, was told over the radio to instead 'stand down' and go to an underground location where they were to 'regroup'.  Oskar did just that, only to find out it was a trap designed to imprison Oskar.  He was gassed and knocked unconscious. He was removed from the armor and placed under arrest for 'treason' with the armor stored in a vault in a secret location in Moscow.  His wife and family were also sent to prison, however, Oskar's oldest son, Anton, escaped capture and instead hooked up with the active remnants of the Red Guard that didn't get capture in the failed coupe.

Months later, Oskar was freed during a prison break by Dospehi...aka, his son, Anton, who was wearing the armor.  The previously uncaptured Red Guard troops attacked the prison to free its fellow incarcerated Red Guard troops and Oskar, with the Generalissimus leading the charge. Nonetheless to say, they all escaped.  Oskar's wife and other children were also freed and brought with the rest of the Red Guard to their new, hidden secret base far from Russia.

For the next few years, they lived in a secretive base in Greenland.  Generalissimus had amassed a veritable army and massive amounts of weapons and equipment to wage war to regain Russia to be the new Soviet Union once again. As such, to do so, the Generalissimus deduced that he needed a foothold in the region; he chose to invade Lithuania and start his war from there.  The Generalissimus wanted Anton to be the next new Dospehi, but Oskar pleaded to be Dospehi one last time; to go down in history as part of the great revolution to bring back the Soviet Union. Generalissimus agreed, but told Anton to be ready to replace his father should the need exist.  As such, Anton had already been working on a new Mark IV armor with all the latest stolen tech from the West and hundreds of new equipment and gadgets gleaned from the stolen/appropriated Soviet military sites that the Generalissimus raided in 1991. Generalissumus ordered Anton to stay behind in Greenland and 'do all he could' to make the Mark IV armor operational sooner than later. Anton, although wanting to be in on the Lithuanian invasion, knew his efforts would be best in doing what the Generalissimus wanted him to do.

In 2010, the Red Guard, led by Generalissimus, invaded Lithuania.  It didn't take but two days to take-over the nation. For the next several weeks, the Red Guard performed multiple feats of cruelty and evils that even paled to the Nazis of World War II.  Oskar, as Dosphei II, was appalled at the way the Red Guard troops were treating the Lithuanian people and eventually got shot at by a Red Guard Captain for his troubles.  Dospehi was ordered to stand-down, however, he instead stated, 'as long as I am alive in this armor, I will continue to serve the best interests of the Soviet Union, and that includes ensuring equal treatment to our new Lithuanian comrades...not mistreating them as slaves'. Generalissimus did not call for any action against Dospehi, but instead assigned him 'guard' duty to the escape sub they had...should anything go wrong.  Eventually, something went wrong for the Red Guard.

The Lithuanian resistance (and a few other 'unauthorized' helpers from other nations) created an offense that completely destroyed the Red Guard's forces, taking out over 70% of the Red Guard troops. Several of the super-powered Soviet Guard group were wounded/dead as well, thus causing a retreat.  Generalissimus was able to escape with a handful of troops and Soviet Guard personnel, when the resistance exploded into the submarine pen to stop them.  Generalissimus ordered Dospehi II (Oskar) to stop them 'at all cost', allowing for the Generalissimus, his remaining troops/superheroes and two nuclear torpedoes to get away.

Oskar died in a valiant battle against the resistance, allowing Generalissimus' sub to escape unhindered.

Back in Greenland, the dead were lauded as Heroes of the Soviet Union, including Oskar and his brave sacrifice.  Anton immediately offered himself up as the next Dospehi (see Dospehi III).  Back in Lithuania, Oskar's body was given a proper funeral, but in a separate cemetery where the rest of the villainous Red Guard troops were laid to rest.  The Dospehi Mark III armor was damaged beyond repair. It was instead sent to Moscow as an 'olive branch' and was to be placed on display with the original Dospehi Mark I & II armors, all of which had been placed in a dank, wet cellar since 1991 and the fall of the Soviet Union. It seemed no one really wanted to have or see the the old Dospehi armors, even for historical reasons. There, all three armors remained...until someone, someday finally liberated (stole) them from their dank location, with only a note left behind stating 'Taken to where they will be properly honored' signed by "Generalissimus". As it is, Oskar's son didn't have long to wait to take over his father's legacy (see Dospehi III).

Thus ends the story of Dospehi II, a 'unique' man who was a Soviet enlisted man, became a war hero, then an officer, then a prisoner, then a test subject, then a prisoner again, then a Soviet superhero, then a father, then a nobody, and then finally an 'evil ex-Soviet terrorist' or a 'hero of the Soviet Union'...all depending on whose point of view you have...

History

I History

In 1939,  S.M. Kirov Factory No. 185 in the Soviet Union, just prior to the start of World War II, created a battle armor simply called "The Human Tank" ("Dospehi" in Russian) and presented it to the Soviet Union's top communist leader,  Joseph StalinStalin was very impressed with the design of the clunky armor, and demanded tens of thousands be built.  The engineers who created the armor mentioned there were hundreds of bugs and details to work out first, but they would have a production model by 1940.  Stalin swore them to secrecy to ensure that no one else knew about this project but himself, several of his military advisors and the scientists and engineers directly related to the project. Stalin demanded the entire team be sent to Siberia and work from a brand new base there out of the prying eyes of other European nations.  He also demanded that only a truly dedicated and patriotic Soviet soldier of his own choosing be the test pilot for the first suit.

With a concerned nod, the project's scientists and engineers were shipped to Siberia, as was Stalin's pick for the first Dospehi suit tests: Captain Ustev Ochenko of the Soviet Red Army Tank Division.  On the way to the new site in Siberia, the convoy drove through a severe Siberian blizzard on a narrow mountain road at night.  The convoy of ten trucks, personnel, scientists and engineers, along with all their equipment, went off the road in the snowstorm and plummeted to the valley nearly a half mile below in a blazing series of explosions.  The only survivors that did not go over the cliff were the lead scientists and engineers in the last truck with the Dosphei armor, as well as Captain Ochenko and the driver.  All notes, blueprints, designs and support equipment were lost in the accident with the other trucks.  Even after sifting through the remnants and debris of the trucks at the bottom of the chasm, nothing was found to survive the accident.

When the report was made to Stalin, it was said he shot the messenger with has sidearm.

With nothing but guesswork, Captain Ochenko took command of a new team of completely unfamiliar engineers and scientists and attempted to figure out how to replicate the armor's design for mass production.  After months of sleepless days and nights, the team was no further along then the were after the first two days.  The only thing they'd figured out was how to recharge the armor's batteries, even though the batteries only lasted 3 hours of time in normal use.  Stalin ordered Ochenko to shoot the engineers, one each week, until results were obtained.  After eight engineers were killed in cold blood by Ochenko, Stalin relented on the idea of mass production as other war concerns became a priority.  Instead, Stalin told Ochenko and his (remaining) team to perpetually field test the suit in combat.

In February 1940, the Dospehi armor manned by Captain Ochenko made its debut in the invasion of Finland later the next month, followed by action throughout the Scandinavian region for the rest of the 1940s.  By January 1941, the Dospehi armor was to be sent to the Romania/Bulgaria region to cement the Soviet Union's claim to those lands over Hitler, however, Nazi Germany instead decided to attack the Soviet Union later that year.  Dospehi instead was used on what was later dubbed the "Russian Front" for the next three years attacking the Nazi troops, tanks and bases, while also protecting major cities such as Leningrad, Stalingrad and Moscow.

In 1944, as the Russians began a powerful series of counteroffensives, encircling Nazi forces and forcing them to surrender by the tens of thousands.  A major factor in most of those surrenders (some even against Hitler's orders) was the fear of the Dospehi armor and its devastating capabilities.  Awarded many medals, promotions  and commendations, "Colonel" Ochenko became a national war hero and a great tactical leader in his own right.

On 22 June 1944, weeks after the D-Day landings on Normandy, France by the Allies, the Soviet's Red Army initiated Operation Bagration, the invasion of Belarus and the takeover of the Nazi German Army Group Centre, considered to be the greatest defeat of the Wehrmacht during World War II. In that battle, Colonel Ochenko led the massive drive of Soviet tanks and troops across Belarus.  In a pitched battle in the dead of the night, Colonel Ochenko attempted to charge forward with his forces and take over a mile of the Nazi battlefront but instead, Colonel Ochenko met his demise from an incendiary trap the Nazis set the night before.  At temperatures of over 2000 degrees F, Colonel Ochenko was incinerated in the armor and died.

The Dospehi suit was severely damaged and fused, with the battery system completely destroyed.  When the battle was done days later, Colonel Ochenko's remains were removed form the armor and he was given a hero's funeral. The Dospehi armor was later cleaned up as best it could be and returned to Moscow where it remained on display at a war memorial until 1991.

DOSPEHI MARK I BATTLE ARMOR

  • Armoring/Protection

    • Titanium and Steel Armor providing amazing protection against physical and energy attacks

    • Provides unearthly protection against radiation

    • Provides excellent protection from temperate, toxic/toxin damage

  • Artillery Gauntlets

    • Single-load artillery shell fired from the gauntlets produces incredible damage at impact area, with additional damage to adjacent areas around blast point

    • Range: 1200 yards

    • Rate of fire: one every 12-15 seconds per gauntlet (he usually fires off one gauntlet after the other to allows a series of shots, vice pauses of 12-15 seconds)

    • Artillery Shells load from shoulder mounts; each shoulder mount carries 20 artillery shells each

  • Flamethrower

    • Excellent heat/fire damage

    • range: 200 yards

  • Smoke Grenades

    • Can fire off smoke grenades to lower visibility to areas and adjacent areas by a factor of 4

    • Range: 400 yards

    • Carries 6 smoke grenades

  • DShK Model 1938 Machine Gun Mount

    • Can add attachment to back for twin DShK Model 1938 Machine Guns with Belt Fed Drum

    • When activated, the mount rolls up the back of the armor onto the shoulders and locks in place; when done/empty, the mount and MGs are jettisoned

    • Notorious for getting jammed (40% chance)

    • Remarkable shooting burst damage (Excellent if one gets jammed)

    • Can fire 10 bursts before MG drums are emptied

  • Battery Power

    • At full power, the armor can operate of a maximum of 3 hours

    • Recharging takes over 12 hours

    • By mid-1944, battery life was down to 1.4 hours of operational time due to battery damage

  • Mechanical Enhancements

    • Electrical motors drove arm, body and leg joints to produce the following:

      • amazing strength

      • spectacular endurance/stamina

DOSPEHI ARMORED CONVEYOR

  • Open topped tank (14'x6'x4') used to move/transport Dopehi on the battlefield (too slow moving in his own suit).

  • Ramp on back of tank allowed for Dospehi to walk up into the tank, lock in his boots to the vehicle platform, and control/drive the tank using his feet vice hands (left hands/gauntlets open to use as weapons)

  • Centipede Treads (tank-like) allowed for movement across most terrains

  • Provided remarkable physical and energy protection

  • Speed: 45 mph

  • Range: (on full tank) 100 miles

  • Had two brackets on the left and right side of the tank platform allowing for the DShK Model 1938 Machine Gun Mount to be mounted, wherein Dospehi would back into the bracket and the mount and MGs would lock onto his armor's back

  • The DShK Model 1938 Machine Gun Mounts/bracket setup could also be used by individuals as 'gun turrets' for the Conveyor, providing left and right side 120-degree firing arcs on the conveyor (so long as the mounts were loaded on the brackets).

LIMITATIONS

  • Weight: Armor weights over 1200 lbs, not counting the weight of the person inside. The armor was prone to sinking in soft peat and mud at battle sites (Thus why he had his own mini-tank to propel/move him along on the battlefield).

  • Heat Generation: Armor's batteries and equipment produced an unrelenting poor level of heat every minute of the suit's operational time. Oksano was noted to be massively dehydrated each time he used the armor after 2 hours during a normal (70 degree F) day. He started having his troops 'feed water down the faceplate' to keep him hydrated.

  • Speed: While walking in his armor, he could never move more than several feet every few (4-5) seconds.
