These islands were once British Overseas Territories in the southern Atlantic Ocean consisting of the island of Saint Helena, Ascension Island and the island group called Tristan da Cunha.
​
In 1990, amidst the population's denigrated British status, a new Governor was elected who seceded these islands from Britain. Although Britain attempted to reclaim them through military force, an incredibly advanced military force sprang from these islands with millions of troops, and technologically superior warships, aircraft and missiles. Britain is in a truce with what has since been renamed "Oceania" by Governor Goldstein.

Since then, the island names, townships, bays and points have had their names changed. New industrial complexes have developed on all islands in mere fortnights. From all indications, they are utilizing raw minerals and resources, as well as nuclear and geothermal/volcanic energies to power their towns and plants.
​
The only island that has no indication of power or thermal traces is Inaccessible Island, however, the island has been covered in a perpetual fog and cloud layer since 1995 wherein no one has visually seen if anything has been happening on the island, if at all.

Ascension Island
Ascension Island is the northernmost of the three sets of islands that make up Oceania. Georgetown is the main town on the island.
Industrial production is heavy across the island. Most production is estimated to be of Naval vessels, aircraft and missile systems. The island also has an international-level runway used by the military for fighter squadrons and cargo transport, as well as a way-point for most long range flights.
The Peak is an active volcano with dozens of huge 'magma-lines' that stretch out to each industrial site. The Peak is about 850 ft. from sea level.

​The island is protected with nearly 250,000 military troops, hundreds of missile systems, two aircraft carriers, three battleships, and two squadrons of destroyers and cruisers. Five squadrons of attack aircraft/fighters and five squadrons of bombers are based on this island. There is rumor that there are more than one long-range ICBM missile silos on the island, but no one has been able to discover or detect them thusfar.

Equality Islands
Equality Island (formerly known as the Isles of Tristan da Cunha) is located to the south of Oceania's main island.
In this satellite view, you can see where the industrial sites are located across the island. High peaks of thermal action exists at all sites and in direct lines out from the center of Proles Peak. This island is believed to be the key production site for most military troop hardware, vehicles, armor, and missile systems, as well as production and manufacturing equipment used on the other islands.
This once quiet, beautiful island has slowly turned into an industrial wasteland, with large amounts of toxic waste detected in and around the waters of the associated islands. Most of the other islands have one or two industrial complexes on them, as well as thousands of troops, missiles, naval and air support. The only island part of this chain that has a purely unknown quality to it is the fog-enshrouded Inaccessible Island. Most Intel from these Equality Islands is based on conjecture and professional guesswork, since no one can get close enough to provide any formal Intel.

The southernmost of all these islands, Winston's Folly, seems to be a form of prison island. A facility located deep in the heart of the island is surrounded with high security wild (non-indigenous) animals, and hundreds of lasers, missiles and troops. It seems designed to prevent people from leaving the island, more than allowing people on the island.

Oceania
Oceania (formerly known as St. Helena) is the capitol island of Oceania. Goldtown (originally Jamestown) is where the Oceania Governor is located, as well as all Ministry buildings. Several industrial production sites are located across the island with a VERY large complex out near Tradesman's Isle. The largest military presence among all the islands is located here. Although no airstrips are found here, it is believed several runways are burrowed into the hills and peak on the island. A large naval flotilla surrounds the island at any given time. Hundreds of missile sites have also been discovered, however, most of them are mobile sites.

The complex out on Goldstein Point is believed to be a submarine manufacturing facility and sub-pen base. No one can affirm this, since no spies or Intel have come out of there alive. Governor Goldstein ("Big Brother") is known to operate primarily from this island, as well as the Champions of Oceania.

HISTORY OF Oceania
Oceania is a dangerous military power in what was once the Atlantic Ocean British colony islands of St. Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha.
As a result of the British Nationality Act of 1981, St. Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha were treated poorly and as such, the islands slowly crept into poverty, chaos and despair as things as simple as pure/clean water became scarce and equipment to run evaporators and distilling plants were no longer sent from England to the isles.
As a result, the islands fell into anarchy. Tourists were kidnapped for food and water; children were sold to human traffickers in Africa to allow the remaining island family members to survive. At this point, a veteran British MI-6 Intelligence Officer, Sir George Winston Goldstein, a native of St. Helena, demanded and even tried to end round the British Government to end the Nationality Act of 1981, only to be caught and demoted for his efforts. The next day after his demotion, Goldstein left MI-6 and was next seen in St. Helena.
​
Using his extensive 'kingmaker' skills, Goldstein created a revolutionary terrorist group, backed by a shadowy global organization, and created a new socialist movement in the St. Helena isles.
The movement went off like wildfire. Nearly all of the islanders backed the new socialist movement and within a month, demanded seceding from the British commonwealth. The British answer was to install a new governor, who immediately took charge and in the protests that followed, was responsible for 20 deaths due to rioters and protesters.
Sir Goldstein shot and killed the new British governor on live TV himself and announced to the world that the islands had now formally seceded from the Commonwealth and were now to be considered an independent new nation called "Oceania".

The British, unhappy over this situation, sent warships, fighter planes, bombers and troops to take back the island (think Falkland Islands War, as an example). When the troops hit the beach two weeks after they left port in England, they were assaulted by two thousand black-uniformed troops with superior armament and body armor. All the British troops were killed in minutes. The British Air Force and Navy were blown out of the sky and water respectively by never seen before high-tech aircraft, subs and warships all sporting the new Oceania flag and logo.

After several more attempts, the British government got the United Nations involved and put up a blockade off the islands, cutting them off from regular supplies for food, water and materials. Incredibly, the blockade did nothing; supplies and more weapons and troops continued to pour into the islands, doubling the island's population in weeks.
The British attempted one last offensive only to be stopped cold. Whatever remaining British forces were left, returned back to Britain, all except 2 or 3 ships that, to this day, continue a 'blockade' and surveillance of the islands.

Thanks to Goldstein, "Oceania" won its independence from it British parent nation. Goldstein was immediately voted to be the president of the island by the citizens, but instead, Goldstein came up with a radical plan, pushing the island's socialist movement into a true extreme - an extreme that was designed to make everyone in the island 'equal'. Goldstein, rather than becoming a President, instead 'allowed' himself to become the highest ranking position of his new Oceania nation - Governor.

Months later, huge industrial sites began construction and manufacturing on the islands of thousands of new high-tech weapons, aircraft ships and combat vehicles. Citizens were trained in engineering, manufacturing and soldiering, all for the 'defense' of Oceania, according to Governor Goldstein. In 1999, they even made nuclear weapons with long-range missile capabilities.

As such, the Governor initiated Oceania's new form of militaristic and industrious socialism synonymous to George Orwell's '1984' philosophy.
Those few Oceania residence who resisted the socialist movement were 're-educated' to 'goodthink' about Oceania's new order, some believing that a psychic or group of psychics were altering people's minds with 'goodthink'. By the close of the 20th Century, citizens of Oceania truly believed that they were the world power, and that other nations wanted to take away their power, such as the evil United States and the cruel Europeans and British powers.

In 2000, the Soltan Star Empire invaded Earth. Interestingly, Oceania was NOT invaded nor did it ever collaborate with the Soltans. To this day, Oceania's lack of being invaded has been one of the greatest mysteries if not bordering on conspiracy theories of secret negotiations with the Soltans.
​
Over the next few years after the invasion, the world began to concede to Oceania's existence. Goldstein didn't use any of his expansive military and industrious military might to attack or over-reach the island nation's borders, and as such, in 2015, Goldstein was 'recognized' by the United Nations as a legal leader of Oceania and, pending further review, was in line for a seat with other national leaders in the United Nations (much to the chagrin of the United States, Israel and Great Britain (and by association, the British Commonwealth).

Over the last several years, propaganda created by Goldstein's nation has prodded thousands or people worldwide to move to Oceania and join their socialist society of equality and become citizens of Oceania. Along with that, new resistance movements have also started up...but have been quickly quelled, with most of the resistance leaders re-integrated into Oceania's society as their most 'devout' workers. One such resistance movement, the Saint Helena Liberators, led by Major Liberator, continues to be a thorn in Goldstein's operations.

Today Goldstein is still the Governor of Oceania. The citizens remained loyal and brainwashed, while their military might continues to grow, making themselves one of the most dangerous super-powered nations in the world.

GOVERNMENT OF Oceania
The new Oceania society structure is roughly based on George Orwell's "1984" society, however, in this Oceania, there was an industrial might, a strong military, and nuclear power capability.
​
The people, or "Proles" of Oceania all work in tough conditions, enacting as skilled laborers, but are allowed the freedom of pornography, alcohol and certain acts of misconduct.
​
The Outer Party consists of supervisors and those requiring managerial skills and are scrutinized the worst. The Inner Party entrusts the Outer Party to perform their demands without question. Any caught questioning the order of things is brought to 're-education' rooms.
​
The Inner Party is rarely if ever seen, and constitutes the Ministry leaders and their associates. These are the ones controlling everything in Oceania, all led by Governor Goldstein.
​
Citizens all receive the same luxuries and living conditions (as far as they know).
​
Oceania as a whole, is totally self sufficient for power, communications, food and resources.
​
Oceania's power comes from two nuclear reactors built on each island, located in the heart of each major city of the islands.

Oceania has total control of information as well.

Ministry of Love (miniluv)
Enforces loyalty and love of Governor Goldstein through fear, a repressive apparatus, and brainwashing.
A bit different from Orwell's book, the miniluv allows citizens to be arranged to 'procreate' once every 3 months. Women are required to bear children as early as age 16. All children, once born, are taken from the parents and sent to 'birthing centers' where Oceania basically sequesters the newborns and children and brainwashes them into subservience.
It is largely responsible for the practice and infliction of misery, fear, suffering, and torture. Its ultimate purpose is to instill love of Governor Goldstein in the minds of thought-criminals.
Miniluv is also responsible for providing 'pornography' as rewards for good work. It is strictly controlled, yet is incentive for many workers. For those that 'report' others for thought-crimes or sex-crimes, Proles can be allowed 'Two minute Choice' of watching a woman (or man) lusted after, usually from a shower camera. This unto itself, draws many seedy people to want to 'work' in Oceania from abroad. Once they arrive, they are treated to these 'rewards', and summarily 're-educated' for their ungood thoughts thereafter.

Ministry of Peace (minipax)
Named the exact opposite of what it does, since the Ministry of Peace is in charge of maintaining a state of war.
As one of the obvious phrases, the meaning of peace has been equalized with the meaning of war in the slogan of the party, which is "War is Life ".
The military is over 2 million strong, which is amazing since in 2000, the combined populations of St. Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha were no more than 5,000 people. There is rumor that illegal cloning practices are being used to create Oceania's military.

Ministry of Plenty (miniplenty)
Miniplenty oversees public access to food, supplies, and goods. It is also in charge of rationing these goods. The populace of Oceania are kept in a perpetual state of poverty, yet they will get 'perks' as required to keep out dissension and unhappiness.
Food is distributed at work areas only, and not homes. Homes are allowed to grow gardens only 10' x 10', but there are rules to how many items can be grown; all remainders must be provided to miniplenty, as it is called, within 24 hours, or they will forfeit the contents of their whole garden.
Everyone is allowed one apartment as a home, with children taken from the parents at birth, and educated by Oceania. There is no marriage system. Oceania's Ministry of Love tells you who can mate with who every three months. No emotional connections are allowed.

Ministry of Truth (minitru)
Oceania's propaganda ministry. It is responsible for any necessary falsification of historical events.
It basically is the willful fooling of posterity using "historical" archives to show "in fact" what "really" happened. Minitru, as it is newspeaked, also provides education for youth and adults using their screens.
Children 1 to 15 receive this 'education' for 12 hours a day, with skills training for four hours a day.
For adults (16 and older), they must watch screens each morning, then go to work, then watch in the evening. Watching is mandatory and monitored.

World View of Oceania
The truth behind Oceania and Governor Goldstein is the ultra-secretive world dominating organization covertly known as [REDACTED]. [REDACTED] aided in creating Oceania as a base of military power, and as such, a place where they can 'test' their policies, practices and manufacture and store enough military power to take on most of the world's nations.
Oceania is a one-party system that to this day is a powerful and dangerous nation. Several dozen North American, South American and European superheroes have gone missing in attempts to help free the island inhabitants of this oppression.

Spies and covert underground operatives have also gone missing within hours of their first reported actions. Very little information is ever discovered or seen about the internal operations of Oceania, other than the citizens there are 'staunch' believers in their world and happy, productive workers of Oceania. The rest of the world only receives information about Oceania from propaganda feeds from minitru.
The United Nations has condemned Oceania for its human rights violations, its nuclear capacity, and its unwillingness to work with the world community towards peace, however, over the decades, the U.N. is now beginning to accept Oceania as a nation, and (scarily) as a world power.
As of 2017, Oceania has maintained control of their nation's might with over 2.5 million citizens, most in the military. They have now started spreading their socialism to African and South American nations.
OCEANIA DEFENSIVE FORCES
The ODF is a powerful, high-tech military force located among Oceania's islands in the South Atlantic Ocean. This military force contains over two million troops, airman and sailors. It is believed that these troops were/are clones, since no one is able to amass that many troops unwittingly in a two week period from when Oceania's military force started in 2001.

The ODF is operated by the Ministry of Peace (minipax). This powerful force was strong enough to repel a British military invasion.
​
The Oceania Air Patrol (OAP), at best estimate, currently contains at least 500 fighters, bombers, attack planes and helicopters. The OAP Auxiliary is also comprised of over 250 Oceania Skyknights.
the Oceania Coast Guard (OCG) currently contains three aircraft carriers, five battleships, five squadrons of destroyers and cruisers, dozens of corvettes, and over one hundred remotely operated gunboats and aerial drones.

The Oceania Defense Army (ODA) is believed to be about two million troops, complete with three battalions of tanks, heavy armored vehicles, mobile missile launchers, anti-aircraft batteries and mobile ESM and radar platforms.
​
The ODF is also in control of 12 Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles with a 2000 Megaton nuclear yield for each missile. The missile silo locations are relatively unknown except for tow of them.
​
Thusfar, the ODF has only exhibited defensive combat actions, and have not attacked anyone outside their borders offensively...yet.
​
The technology of this force is considered at least 10 years ahead of whatever the rest of the world has to offer.

A prefix used meaning "pre~" or "before"(ex: antefiling, which means 'before filing').
​
BB
Code-word for Governor Goldstein AKA "Big Brother", leader of Oceania.
Similar to America's "Uncle Sam", except this individual is the leader of Oceania and is answerable to no one.
He is currently talked and revered about on screens throughout Oceania. He mentions that Oceania's forces are taking actions against 'The West' on the "Western Front", leading Oceania's troops in glory and victory, to conquering the evil western hordes day in and day out.
Bellyfeel
The word means a blind, enthusiastic acceptance of an idea.

Blackwhite
Refers only to that caused by fear, indoctrination, or repression of one's individual critical thinking ("to know black is white"), rather than caused by laziness or gullibility.

Crimestop
To rid oneself of unwanted thoughts, i.e., thoughts that interfere with the ideology of Oceania. This way, a person avoids committing thoughtcrime.

The act of simultaneously accepting as correct two mutually contradictory beliefs, often in distinct social contexts.
It is related to, but distinct from, hypocrisy and neutrality. Its opposite is cognitive dissonance, where the two beliefs cause conflict in one's mind.
Doublethink is an integral concept of George Orwell's dystopian novel Nineteen Eighty-Four and the word doublethink is part of Newspeak.
Duckspeak
A Newspeak term meaning literally to quack like a duck or to speak without thinking. Duckspeak can be either good or "ungood" (bad), depending on who is speaking, and whether what they are saying is in following with the ideals of Big Brother. To speak rubbish and lies may be ungood, but to speak rubbish and lies for the good of INGSOC may be good.

Only in the sense of physically equal, like equal height/size, etc. It does not mean politically equal, since there is no such concept in Oceania.

An indication that a person is guilty of thoughtcrime based on their facial expression.
Free
Meaning negative freedom (without) in a physical sense, only in statements like "This dog is free from lice", as the concepts of "political freedom" and "intellectual freedom" do not exist in Newspeak.
Goodsex
Any form of sex considered acceptable by Oceania; specifically, that which refers only to mated heterosexual sex for the exclusive purpose of providing new children for Oceania.
Goodthink
That which is approved by Oceania and Big Brother. Opposite of crimethink. Vaguely translatable to orthodox thought.
Groupthink
A type of thought within a deeply cohesive in-group whose members try to minimize conflict and reach consensus without critically testing, analyzing, and evaluating ideas. It is a second potential negative consequence of group cohesion.

Acronym for English Socialism, as referenced in George Orwell's "1984" Novel.

One of the rules of newspeak is that any word can be turned into its antonym by adding the prefix "un-". This allowed the removal of repetitive words such as horrible, terrible, great, fantastic, and fabulous from the language (i.e., Ungood means "Not good").

A person who has been "vapolazed"; who has been not only killed by the state, but effectively erased from existence. Such a person would be written out of existing books, photographs, and articles so that no trace of their existence could be found in the historical record.
