HISTORY

I: History

What information can be said about this Dragonmaster is sketchy and uncorroborated at its best.

Prior to the 2000 Soltan Invasion of Earth, a small Asian Pacific criminal organization based out of Hong Kong called the Golden Dragons attempted to enter the dangerous criminal empire that was the Triad. They were not only squashed, they were humiliated. the Golden Dragons wore elaborate costumes, with their leader, prior to Dragonmaster, believed to be a mentally unstable small time crime boss who had a flair for the dramatic. As such, the Golden Dragons were only a nuisance to the Triad; a nuisance that would soon become a far greater threat.

The Triad was a Chinese transnational organized crime syndicate based in Greater China and has outposts in various countries with significant overseas Chinese populations. The Hong Kong Triad is distinct from mainland Chinese criminal organizations. In ancient China, the Triad was one of three major secret societies. It established branches in Macau, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Chinese communities overseas. Thanks to the Soltan Invasion, most of these branches were decimated (Soltans simply obliterated the Triads for tactical reasons of the potential for them to rise up, obtain unavailable weapons and actually create a rebel situation, to which the Soltans foresaw and thus took out the primary Triad targets).

Several months after the Soltan Invasion ended, the remnants of the Triad attempted to reform, only to be taken over site by site, region by region, by the once-small time Golden Dragons. It's leader at that time was Dragonmaster (I). Dragonmaster, using the planet's newly ramped-up magical energies, tapped into them and used them to 'enhance' and 'empower' dozens of his gang members and leaders. Although the enhancements always proved to be short-lived, the effect of the Golden Dragons move to take over the Triad, wasn't.

By 2003, the Golden Dragons were the dominant criminal organization in the Asia Pacific theater.  Before all this, Dragonmaster (I) usually only dealt with theft, money laundering and piracy, however, with new resources and thugs at his disposal, he added the entire litany of crime to his organization, to include white collar crimes, controlling politicians, human trafficking, drugs, prostitution, gun running, assassinations and a new market in magical relics, scrolls, books and items.

From 2003 to 2018, Dragonmaster kept to the shadows to operate his empire. During this same time, superhero intervention grew to intolerable levels against the Golden Dragon crime empire, requiring Dragonmaster to use more proxies to fight the heroes.  He sent in several Dragonmaster-clad decoys over time, all of which proved to not be the actual Dragonmaster.  Dozens of new super-powered Golden Dragon combatants came out and fought as best they could, however, in 2018, it became clear that the Golden Dragon empire was being dismantled by international policing authorities such as GUARD, the Challengers, the Protectors, the Commonwealth, the Pacific League and even China's own Champions of China heroes.  As such, the original Dragonmaster (I) was said to have 'retired' and disappeared, leaving a new Dragonmaster (II) to take over the waning criminal empire.

Today, no one knows who Dragonmaster (I) actually was or where he is today. Some say he retired to some ancient family property in the mountains of Mongolia; others say he died of old age or was assassinated and usurped by the current Dragonmaster (II), but most believe that he is still alive and somehow pulling the strings of not only the Golden Dragons, but something far greater and larger.

Powers

I: Powers

Power Origin: Magical (unknown school of magic, believed to be Arcane-based)

There is only speculation on his powers, based on rantings of crazed ex-Golden Dragon thugs or people saying they actually encountered Dragonmaster (I).

Temporary Magical Enhancement

It's believed he had the remarkable ability to enhance a person (or group of persons) physical abilities, either in specific categories (i.e., agility, strength, endurance, tough skin, fighting, etc.) or as a whole, all of which only lasted 30 minutes of time.

Arcane Invisibility

Must somehow have the magical ability to be unseen and untraceable for his magical powers and/or abilities

Believed to be at least amazing level of magical invisibility in this capability

Spell/Aura of Forgetfulness

Believed that he used an (at least) amazing level of a spell of forgetfulness that prevents anyone from being able to describe Dragonmaster or state any conversation they had with him.  No matter what medical or mental (and magical for that matter) techniques are used to jog memories, these people cannot recollect anything pertinent about Dragonmaster other than a black and gold clad hooded figure.

Teleportation?/Invisibility?

In several instances, Dragonmaster was cornered into locations with no way out, only for him to 'disappear' when the authorities went in to get him.  Even with arcane tracking, thermal imaging, scent-smelling dogs and all forms of electronic sensors, Dragonmaster seems to simply 'disappear' with no way of being seen or tracked.

Mind Control/Influencer?

It's mentioned that hundreds of his lackeys were originally people who hated Dragonmaster and the Golden Dragons, all of which would have rather died than join him, yet, after these lackeys met one-on-one with Dragonmaster, they became devout loyalists to the Golde Dragons and Dragonmaster. Even to this day, people who 'turned' to the Golden Dragons in 2003 are still intensely loyal, even while they are in prison.

HISTORY

II: History

In 2017, the Golden Dragons criminal empire basically fell after years of efforts by international peacekeepers, superheroes and GUARD.  The few remaining Golden Dragons leaders and gang members that weren't jailed skulked back into the shadows, leaving the Golden Dragons a shell of its once former, powerful criminal empire.  The leader of that iteration of the Golden Dragons was Dragonmaster (I); a leader that simply 'disappeared'.

In 2018, a new leader emerged to start reforming the Golden Dragons. It was not the original Dragonmaster (I), but someone who took his title, armor and presumably, powers. This Dragonmaster (II), unlike the first Dragonmaster (I), leads by example in the field with his minions rather than from back in the palace or in the shadows. This Dragonmaster (II) proved to his thugs and constituents that the Golden Dragons were far from destroyed, but instead, was making a comeback.

This current Dragonmaster (II) has led the resurrection of the Golden Dragons from its prior criminal empire in its now-existing 'gang' level of operation, however, this 'gang' seems to have some serious financial and resourceful backing from someone else outside of the Golden Dragons, including the addition of new bases of operations in locations along the Pacific Rim that were never previously Golden Dragons territory facilities/warehouses. Thus far, this current Dragonmaster (II) may have similar moves, powers and armor as the previous Dragonmaster (I), however, the way in which this Dragonmaster operates in something entirely different.

Who is this new Dragonmaster (II)? Will he successfully rebuild the devastated Golden Dragons back into the criminal empire they once were, or will he instead keep the Golden Dragons more as a 'gang' rather than a 'criminal empire'?

Wait and see...

  • Mind Control/Influencer?

    • Unsure whether if this Dragonmaster has this as a power or is instead a leadership talent/skill.
